New Here!

New Here!

Hi Everyone!
I'm new - just got engaged in November.
Just wanted to say hello!
Looking at venues the past couple weekends, it's definitely overwhelming.
I have a very small family so we will probably have around 90-100 guests but we looooved Westbury Manor's Garden Room. Has anyone been to a wedding that small there? I don't want to go through the whole having a catering hall if it's going to be too small a group and not fun But we're both really looking forward to it and we have some fun friends, and we just want a really nice evening.
The other weird thing about WM is that we'll be having the ceremony there so the only options were 12PM and 8PM. 8 is little late... but it may work.
Anyway, thanks in advance for your advice!!

Welcome! Congrats on your engagement! Wedding planning can be overwhelming. Just remember to do things one at a time. You gave yourself some extra time, since you picked 2013.

Your wedding is going to fun, no matter the size. Your friends and family will be celebrating you and your FH!! My FH has a large family, so our minimum is 145. I wish we could have a small wedding, but it's not possible.

Did you ask WM if they can make the time earlier? Even if it's by an 1 hour or 30 minutes? My ceremony is at 7, Cocktail hour 7:30-8:30, reception 8:30-12:30pm. It’s a Saturday night, so we figured the late hour wouldn’t be too bad.

Good luck with the planning and welcome to liweddings!

Hey
Congrats and welcome to the 2013 Brides!!..

If you find it that its not the right time try a different day. there are alot of Westbury Manor Brides on here. there is also a thread too!!

If you do 8 then your coctail hour would be 8-9 and the party 9-1. also depends on what day your having it on. if its a friday it would be better bc then noone has work on sat,, if its a sat then same concept. a sunday then you just have to think of options.

If you need help we are alwasy here to give advice!!!

good luck!!!!
and dont stress!!! everything ends up working out!!!!.

Congrats and welcome! I think having a small wedding is great...that's what I would love to have but FH family is way to big. Good luck with your planning!

Re: New Here!

Thank you all!
Yes, I am DEFINITELY wanting to save $$... we are also buying a house and I'd rather see that money go towards that or something - while still having something nice!
I'm checking out Woodlands and maybe one more venue. I figured if we still love Westbury Manor the most, I'm going to call Ian (the BM we met with) and ask him if the ceremony really can't start at 7. It would be a Saturday so I'm not super worried about the late time, only because of pictures. We don't want to see each other before the ceremony and the outdoors there are too nice to only take pics in the dark. Though he said I could take pics with my bridesmaids and family before that.
Anyway, thanks for the encouragement!! I'm glad everyone thinks it will be nice

Welcome and congrats One piece of advice I was told before planning is that this is your day and do what makes you happy. Everyone will have their opinions but if it's what you want and you are happy that is all that matters

Welcome and congratulations! Don't worry about the size of your wedding. You are going to save a lot of money. Since you are worried about the time, you can try a different hall. Have you checked out Fox Hollow (same owners as Westbury Manor)?

Congrats on your engagement & Welcome to 2013!!! Yeah fox hollow has a new room that is gorgeous - we didn't book it b/c it couldn't hold my head count. It's called the Somerley - definitely worth checking out! Good Luck & Happy Planning!

Re: New Here!

Oh wow thank you for suggesting that!!! I think we need to go see it... The Somerley looks BEAUTIFUL.
I loved the idea of having an estate or a mansion, and Fox Hollow is beautiful. It's also important to have the gardens outside.
Excellent!!

Re: New Here!

The Somerly has a min. of 15o but the Winter Garden room would hold the number you are looking for

Re: New Here!

Congrats! My boxx had a smaller wedding there...75 guests. He had the ceremony outside ...we were there at I think 11:30 a.m.? It was nice and then we headed to cocktail hour outside int he back and then we went intot he room right behind the outdoor ceremony space. It was a really nice and fun party! We really loved it! It was during the day which was nice because we were able to see everything and Westbury Manor is awesome during the day! Good luck!!
