Hi everyone - I've got a couple of questions that maybe some of you can help me with...Looking at a few reception halls this weekend and here's what I'm asking: The down payment....$2500 down, 2 mos. another $2500 (total of 4 pymts every other month) $10,000 down for a wedding in Oct 09? Does that seem like an awful lot of $ these people are holding - getting interset when I can be getting it? Or is the way it is?
Also, anyone have a wedding (coctail hour) that begins at 7:30? seems rather late.
Any help would be appreciated.

Congrats and welcome. Most RH halls have different payment options if you ask them. My hall requires a $500 deposit, $1500 2nd payment and $2500 s3rd payment and the rest is due 2 weeks before the wedding. I think your hall sounds about right. My cocktail hour starts at 6:30pm. I think the time is perfect so reception and dinner can start around 7:30. Can you request to have your CH start a little earlier? My hall was a little flexible with the hours.

I am having a smaller wedding so the payments were $500 down, $1500 in May, and then $1500 ini September. The rest due two days before the wedding....
And my cocktail hour starts at 6:00pm. Your cocktail hour may be later if they have more than one wedding that night. I would ask if this is the reason.

Thanks for the advise...I will ask them if there is another party going on...I was just looking at the price quote and saw 7:30....will definately ask. Our wedding is small also, only approx. 125 people, that's why I really don't know why they want to hold more than 1/2 of the money - 17 more months till the wedding

We had to leave a $2500 deposit.. And nothing is due at all until the week before the wedding... That does seem like alot your hall is requesting...

I think it depends on the hall. My hall required a 2000 down payment and then we had to make 5 more payments and the 6 and finally payments is due two weeks before. The payments all totalled up to alittle more then half of the total amount. so it seems normal to me. and we booked our hall in june of last year
And our cocktail hour starts at 7. we wanted ours to be later in the evening. My friend is getting married in july and her cocktail hour starts at 7:30

Mine was $3k down on a $20k wedding package (estimated based on the number of people). Every hall is different.

I think it depends on the hall....We put down very little and the second payment was due a month later, which was double. That was back in Sept 07 and our next payment is Feb 09!!!

we put down 1000, the next payment is due in september, then january then 2 weeks before the wedding. But it depends on your budget-like if its only costing 6000 then maybe 500 is only needed, if its 20,000 2500 isnt that much considering the final cost.

I think it also depends on the total amount of your RH. Like we only have deposit plus 2 payments,the last payment due right before wedding. If your RH itotal is more, itll probably be broken down into larger payments.

my hall is very flexible we're doing $500 deposit and 5 different payments before october 2008 once we hit half of the whole payment we dont pay till 2 weeks before the wedding
