Re: New Jewish Thread

I feel like such a bala-boostah !!! I made chopped liver for the first time today!! It's sort of tradition in my family to have liver at every holiday, even the 'non-Jewish' ones. It came out so well!!!

Anyway, in the other Jewish thread a few people were asking about the order we walk in for the processional. This is from 'The Everything Jewish Wedding Book' by Helen Latner.
'The traditional order up the aisle is:
Rabbi and/or Cantor
Granparents of the Groom
Ushers (if any)
Best Man
Father, Groom, Mother (to the right of the Groom)
Grandparents of the Bride
Bridesmaids (if any)
Maid/Matron of Honor
Flower Girls (if any)
Father, Bride, Mother (to the right of the Bride)

Under the canopy, the Groom's parents take places at the right side of the Rabbi, and the Bride's parents face them at the left. The Bride stands at the Groom's right. BMan and MOH stand behind the Groom and Bride. Ushers line the aisle on one sied, BM's on the other. Granparents may stand or sit on the platform beside the canopy, or if there are no chairs ther, they may sit in the first row on the aisle.'

Sorry, it's a little long. Hope it helped. I would definitely recommend this book, BTW. It explains alot of things that, as a non-religious Jew, I never knew before.

Re: New Jewish

I wanted to add a link to my Jewish living teacher's website. She explained to me how a real jewish wedding goes (modern vs. orthodox), as well as new wife's responsibilities.

She is great. Her name is Rebbitzen Doris Feinstein and she will answer any questions you have.
