We finally re-vinyl tiled our kitchen floor and I LOVE it. Here are some pics...we just put the new tile over the existing tile, which was white, why would someone put white as tile in the kitchen I'll never know, it shows EVERY speck of dirt...no offense if you girls have it, just not me, I am not a cleaner every other day of my kitchen floor!

Re: New Kitchen Floor
Very nice.
I can completely relate!!
We are in the process of pulling up the old cermanic tile with WHITE GROUT. I have no idea why the previous homeowners used white grout in such a high traffic area.
We are putting done a brown pinkish ceramic tile with a light brown grout. So far, it looks awesome!
I have to take pics and post.

Re: New Kitchen Floor
Looks great! What a difference. I have a question -going over the old tile - does the new tile seem bumpy or the floor thick because I have the vinyl flooring now and going over it would be soo much easier than peeling up the old stuff.

Re: New Kitchen Floor
Kitty, not at all! This new vinyl out there is quite thick (but not too thick) and more durable than the old vinyl tile that you and I both probably had. We just cleaned it really well and made sure nothing was stuck to the tile before we placed it down. They stuck immediately and it even has a soft, bouncy feel to the floor now, really nice!
Thanks everyone!

That looks great. Did you get them at Home Depot? Are they peel and stick? I think this is what we are going to do. The kitchen in the new house is a disater but we won't have $$$$ to do it over right away and the floor has a big burn spot in the middle (not that I can figure out how that happens)

Re: New Kitchen Floor
Hi Jen! I did them get them at Home Depot, they are Traffic Master (I can't find them on their website to show you a pic though). Pretty thick vinyl tile. My parents did this as well in their house, they had more to do and had a burn mark from the previous owners (from the frig) and it worked out great as well. We were going to use the linoleum roll but decided on the peel and stick and since there was peel and stick down there already, it was so easy to follow. I'd definitely recommend doing this, so easy and changes the whole room!

Re: New Kitchen Floor
I will have to go and look at all the styles they have. I like the one you got (may have to copy) I do that a lot with you. Just goes to show you have good taste
The burn mark from the fridge might make sense but this is right in the middle of the floor!!!

Re: New Kitchen Floor
I guess we have similar tastes Jen!
My parents have a gray tone to their tile with fake grout marks that almost looks like marble. I just wanted something dark where you couldn't see everything on the floor like the white showed, and this matched my cabinets perfectly. They do have a few different ones though. Good Luck, let me know how you make out!
