New List....Who do I not have to Tip

I was just listing all of the people we have to tip on the day of..I think the list would be shorter of who we do not have to tip

1. Organist because his fee is $350 for a 1/2 ceremony..I do not think I am tipping him

That's about the only person..didn't realize I need to tip the seamstress who does the alterations

i think it depends on who your seamstress is.

if you are using a seamstress through the bridal shop then yes.

if you have someone working privately then no.

I'm not against tipping people, it just ***** that we have to add tips in to the budget when we are already spending so much money.

I feel the same. I was talking with one of my patients that just got married in August. They spent a nice amount on a Saturday night wedding at Westbury Manor with all the extras, & they didn't really cut corners at all. With that being said I was asking him about tipping. Everything I said he was like Gina, stop reading all of that stuff online haha..You don't have to go crazy with the tipping you are already paying these people enough. Coming from him who obviously has the money made me feel alot better. I was thinking I had to tip outrageously. He said you don't need to go spending more than $1000 total in tips its just not necessary. It's over already so what are they going to do not give you good service? With the exception of the photographer because you still have to see them again they should be greatful for anything you give. This made alot of sense to me. I think the tipping gets out of control. I just felt like sharing for anyone else that was stressing like me who is already trying to save every penny & now trying to figure out where to pull out more $ haha..

I've always heard that you were not supposed to tip the owner of a business. My freind owned a hair salon a few years ago and she said she was insulted when people didn't tip her, but I don't think the owner should be tipped. Some one who is just an employee is only paid a certain rate for the work they do, so it makes sense to tip them for their work.

I have heard different things when it comes to hairdressers but me personally I would tip even if they were the owner..they performed a service. Plus they have other expenses not just paying their workers

Crashing! ITA with this. Just because you read what someone else did, it doesn't make it realistic. Use a guide and tip extra if someone went above and beyond for you. If you are really unhappy then they didn't do their job! Be reasonable and tip within your means.

*walking back to the 09 board now*
