new mommies

Does your baby always seem uncomfortable? I am going to ask the doctor about it on Monday, but she just always seems uncomfy. Squirming around and squeaking and grunting. Normally this is followed by gas, but is it possible for the baby to be gassy ALL the time!? She just seems so antsy.

How often can I give her those gas drops? She seems to be constantly passing gas - my husband was laughing in the middle of the night last night - I woke up and he was laying with her laughing and I said 'what are you laughing at'? He said - 'well she's been kicking me to wake me up and then all she does is lays there and farts'!

Like she's supposed to carry on a conversation with him about late night TV or something....

When Molly is antsy while feeding her I know she has to burp or fart.
There was a 2 week period when she was 6-8 weeks that she was A LOT more gassy then she is now. You can give those drops pretty often- read the box. I think it is like 8X per day or something like that.
Are you eating anything gassy like brocolli?

Caiden always seems uncomfortable. I was just saying that to my DH the other day. He's doing the same things as Sophia. He's actually been doing that for a while now. He's had gas issues for weeks though. It seemed to be getting better, but then recently it started up again. I've given him those drops, but they hardly help. He usually has gas in his intestines, so the drops won't do anything for that.

Well it makes me happier to know Melissa that you describe the same symptoms, though I wish both our children were't experiencing this!

Michele, I don't think I am. I don't eat broccoli regularly in fact havent' had it since the baby came. I can't think of anything I am eating that could be causing it and I have cut out dairy as well... I have changed from regular formula to soy and back again...

Melissa did your doctor have any advice? I try to move her legs in bicycle motion and rub her belly but she just always seems so bothered. I know this is part of her colicky behavior, and I feel like if we could relieve the gas we might have some less time crying!

Re: new mommies

i have been watching my goddaughter a lot, as my cousin's regular sitter has been ill. she was born on 12/10 and she is gassy all the time!!!! i never knew that infants could fart like that!! i mentioned it to my cousin and she started laughing - apparently it is just something that babies do.

also - she is a 100% formula baby, so i don't think it's just the BFing that causes the gas.
