you allowed to put three layers before it really needs to be compltely re done. that of course is if its in good shape. mine had 3 on it already when i bought my house so we had to have it redone

it can be done, but it is not adviseable to add a 3rd layer. if you can afford it, definitely opt for a new roof. from what i was told, a new layer is about $1,500 and a new roof is about 5,000. although it may seems like a lot now, it will be worth it if and when you decide to sell.
