New St. Lucia resort

I just looked it up on the sandals website, it looks pricey but then if you go the specials link it does say that the Sandals Grande St. Lucian is 35% off the published rates for the grand opening. I would think it's worth checking out if you're considering St. Lucia. Not sure of the hurricane status there in mid-Oct, but I know my cousin went Oct 22 two years ago and they did not have a drop of rain..

New Resort....

I just checked out the resort online, OH MY GOD . I want that room where the pool goes right up to your room.
We stayed at the Golf & Spa Resort and LOVED it!!!!

New Resort....

I don't think the hurricane season starts that early, bc I know it goes into October. I have heard that St. Lucia gets hit with less bc it is farther south. I am also considering aruba (have been there before, like gambling, no hurricane threat, beautiful) and acapulco, which also has good weather. A resort called Las Brisas sounds really good. Good luck, I'm looking into the sandals thing!

how does aruba compare

as far as prices, without that 35% I dont think St. Lucia is in my price range I was thinking Aruba too but I hear mixed reviews about how expensive it is, what have you found?

how does aruba compare

our travel agent just quoted us 4890$ for both for the ultra honeymoon swim up room with private concielare(sp) service for a week at the brand new resort, non stop flight with champagne out of newark. That still seems like A LOT with the discount. Aruba is about 3200 for both for a week, but I've only looked into the non inclusives, because I've heard it is not good to go to an all inclusive in Aruba. When you figure about $100 a day for meals and booze it probably winds up evening out. Supposedly at the all inc. sandals, all drinks food and whatever are included, there isn't even tipping. We are deciding right now...it's between that and Aruba, with the possibility of Acalpulco still there.

We are paying $2300 for Aruba total, 7 nights at the Wyndham resort w/ bkfast buffet. So, like jpsgirl said $100 day for food/activities, our honeymoon may only be total of $3000. If we chose the Hyatt or Radisson it would have been more expensive (they are a bit more luxury-type hotels).

not bad i guess

I figured 5k was our budget of course id like to spend less but 4890 seems good but with a discount it seems like alot hmmmm. Did she mention how long this special will be around for? Sounds like a toss up between Aruba then when you figure in eating and stuff but if the restuarants are really good and safe unlike mexico i think wed probably want to go that route too. Did you find out prices for Aculpoco at all? Are there other travel specials that your travel agent mentioned? Sorry i am going to meet with someone soon just pickin everyones brain before I start doing the leg work.
Thanks

I haven't found much out about Acapulco prices bc my travel agent seems to be pushing for the Sandals. I'm torn bc we enjoy gambling and Aruba is fun to explore in jeeps and whatever too, but sandals is such a relaxing no brainer. The 4890$ seems to be what the extra-special (apparantly there is someone assigned to you the entire time who is a phone call away to get you anything you want) room would cost without the discount, but that price is also with the airfare. Also, they have a special with that room that you get a 20 piece royal daulton china starter set if you book it.
