New thought re: Friday or Sunday?????

Thanks girls. But would you still have a Fri if you are having it in Sept and have kids in your bridal party and cheap people who won't pay to stay over a night at a hotel?

Save yourself now and do what YOU WANT! If you start planning a wedding around what is convenient for other people, it will be a nightmare. Trust me, people will do what they need to. They might beotch a little to begin with, but this is YOUR day! Make yourself happy and the rest will follow. I promise!

well said rachel!!!!

you need to do what is best for you!!!! if you start trying to please everyone, what should be the happiness time of your life is going to turn into the most stressful!!!!!!

i didn't see your first post - but if you have a lot of out-of-towners, i don't know if they would do a friday night wedding. how out of town are they?? a couple of hours??

I would say Friday because if everyone is traveling far from out of town...they will most likely be flying in a few days before and if they have never been to New YOrk....it will leave them sat and Sunday to enjoy the rest of their weekend site seeing.

Whoa...that's alot. Seriously listen to the girlz & do what you want! This seems like it is becoming an issue before you even do it!

Good Luck

I'd still say Sunday. Parents wouldn't have to rush from work, get kids home from school trying to get themselves & the kids ready for a wedding.

BUT really, ITA w/the above posters - you should figure out what it is you & FH want & go from there.

I would still stick with Friday. People will either really inconvenience themselves or $uck it up and get a hotel room.

I figure I am looking at taking a vacation day if the wedding is a Friday or Sunday (if I'm travelling to the wedding) I would rather be able to hang out for the rest of the weekend with friends and family no longer tied up with wedding tasks.

How about a Saturday day wedding? That's what we decided to do. It's cheaper than Saturday night and it will give your out of town guests enough time to get to you. We have a lot of people coming from NJ and PA. Some of them are coming up Friday night, others are arriving Saturday morning. The beauty of it all is since the wedding is over at 5:30, they all have plenty of time to get home.

I have a lot of out of town guest and I went with Friday night. This way guest can make their stay like a mini vacation and stay the weekend!
And if they don't like it OH WELL! You can't please everyone, it's impossible. Worry about pleasing yourself first.

I am partial to a Friday night. I didn't see your original post, but if people want to be there with you, they will find a way to work it out. If not, I wouldn't want them there anyway!
And as a few girls mentioned, it's nice to have the weekend to relax after the wedding, do a little sight seeing etc., instead of rushing home on Sunday night for work the next day.
I think the convienence (sp?) of your guests is important, but not to the extent that it will make you insane!

Yes!! That's exactly what I am doing- September Friday night wedding... I have 6 kids in bridal party too. No one said no! Trust me...the people that really want to be there will be there.

Re: New thought re: Friday or Sunday?????

You know what? Both Friday and Sunday have their drawbacks.

Friday means having to deal with people leaving work early, or missing a day or so of work before the day to travel. It also means Friday Long Island traffic (if you're getting married on LI), especially at rush hour time.

Sunday means having to deal with the fact that people work the next day, and either won't stay over that night or might even cut out of the reception a little early. But the traffic is lighter, and it can be a more leisurely day (no rushing home from work).

So basically, what I'm trying to say is....

DO what is best for YOU!!! Forget about everybody else. Some will prefer Friday, others Sunday, so you can't please everybody. Just think about what's easier on YOU and stick with it.

We're having a Sunday evening wedding. Reception ends at midnight. We know some people will have to work the next day (some took off), and we only booked 6 out of 20 rooms we blocked at the hotel. But the price was right, the minimum was right, and it was best for US.

Best of luck!

choose whatever day works best for you - and that you can afford - if they want to come, they will regardless....they find a way!!

Re: New thought re: Friday or Sunday?????

I agree with everyone about choosing what you want. The guests who are important to you will make the effor to come regardless of when. If people leave early on a Sunday night, it may be a blessing in disguise because it will allow you to some quality time with the people who do stay. I am getting married on a Sunday because it is cheaper, almost no one I know works on Sunday (where I do know some people who work Saturday afternoons) and it is important to me that people attend the ceremony at the church and not just come to the reception.

Good luck with your decision!

Well said Rachel-do what you want to do. We chose a Friday night due to price and we know that the people that we really want there will go no matter what day we have our wedding.
Good luck!

Re: New thought re: Friday or Sunday?????

p.s. we chose a sun night b/c we figured that if they came up for a friday wedding then they woudl have to take off for at least friday and drive up but if we picked sun they would prob have to take off monday......we went with sunday but no matter what the day (sat included) people coming in from out of town still have to drive......see what works best for you....and just know, no matter what, someone will have somethign to say regardless (whether fri, sat or sun!) so you will just learn to smile and 'uh huh' them!!!
