New to board...bridesmaid/color choice help

Hiiii Im new to the board and very excited about planning my May of '09 wedding.

So we have only been engaged about a month and I have already booked my recep site at the Westbury Manor. Also we booked the church. I have gone to a showcase already also. Alot of people are saying 'You dont have to be moving so quickly, you have time'etc...But I have a million ideas in my head and I want to get moving. Also I get super busy so Im usually pulled in a millin diff directions, so when I have free time I like to get on the ball...

Anyway sorry to bable...here is my question: I am having a difficult time deciding on a color for my bridesmaid dresses/ color theme for my wedding. How did you all decide? Im being pulled in many different directions and cant zero in on something Im loving. Has anyone felt like this...and if so how did you make your choices?

Smart girl to start early because no matter how much time you think you have it all goes by very quickly. This way you will have the majority of things done and can relax.

my advance to go back to your hall and see if anyof the colors grab you. that way you can choose colors that automatically match your room and never have to worry about if your choices are going to clash with the room.

its never too early to start planning. the more time you have the better off you are, in my opinion.

'Smart to start early because time flies.'

Starting to plan early is such a wise decision. There are so many wonderful ideas and helpful people on this site!

I chose my bridal party colors based upon my Gown and some personal experiences of weddings I was a part of in the past. My gown has an 'Old Hollywood' glamorous feel to it. My favorite BM gown was from a Black/White themed wedding. I honestly loved the gown it was soooo flattering, that I wore it for other formal events following the wedding.

That led my FH and I to base our colors on Black and Champagne. Here is a photo of my gown and BM's gowns (please excuse the quality of the BM gown I changed the bodice color to black in photoshop) and an idea of our GM outfits. FH will be wearing a black shirt w/ champagne vest/tie.

Congrats...It is to exciting not to get started. I agree with working your hall into your colors. You should also just think about what colors you like together and go from there.

I knew I wanted gold but didn't know whether my maids would have green, yellow or pink dresses. Ultimately I just went with which color looked best on the women who came with me to try it on! Ended up being sort of random!

my wedding is in 319 days and i still dont know what colors i want

im almost sure the bridesmaid dress will be taupe - we are having a holiday wedding so im guessing deep red flowers, champagne, ivory, taupe and golds?

If you can't decide on just one, why don't you go with a multi- colored wedding? That would look pretty in the spring

As a past bride, welcome to the boards! I was one of those who wanted to start early too so I say YAY but also offer this advice...work out your dieas solidly first BEFORE makeing any important decisions. We got our hell right away which was great but I moved fast with my dress-like 1 full year in advance... I always regretted that decision because ooo many new dresses came out 2 months later that I loved more. Usually they say order your dress 6-8 months before the wedding and I wish I had.

You want to make sure yoU LOVE everything as much as you can so what i would do is write down all the colors you like for BM dresses. Then start looking at dresses. Some may look better in some colors than others.

Also look at the hall as someone said; the hall we were originally going to book would NOT have gone with our final theme of orange red and pink-too stuffy.

Start thinking about flowers you like and what looks better in what color.

I did a 'conect the liens' thing lol cause I am drorky. I made lists side by side of the flowers I liked, the BM colors I liked, wedding dress styles, the halls etc. Then I drew connecting lines. like This flower would look good with this dress and with this hall. etc.

That way I got a clearer visual of which of me ideas could work together and went from there.

I think early is good...i did all my major vendors pretty quickly. Once they are done you feel so much better! As for the colors you can do two things...1 find a dress you like for your girls and pick the colors that are offered (i did it this way) or 2 you can pick a color and try to find a dress that comes in that color. Either way you will have so many options! Colors are a huge decision because they set the tone for everything else! Good luck!

its good you are starting early, people don't realize how much there is to do. Oh and Congrats and welcome, lol

I chose pink b/c it was the only color that hasn't been done in the weddings I have been in and its july and I love that color

Nothing wrong with starting early. We have the bulk of our major vendors booked already.

In terms of colors I knew I wanted red and it's a great color to have in the fall. I'm also using yellow and highlights of gold.

Do you like sage and light pink?

I think its a good idea to smart early.. I started a month after being engaged as well!! I decided on a very different dress.. I wanted a green color and thats what I was looking for until I came across a very different dress made by Dessy.. Its really beautiful.. I actually changed the color all together to a soft blue.. It's ivory lace with a blue underlay and a blue tie around the stomach that looks really beautiful and classy.. its strapless and Tea length.. Just go around ot the stores and look at the colors that are out there and see which ones catch your eye! Good Luck!

i changed my color scheme a couple of times hahaha...but after seeing lots of wedding pics and seeing this combo together i loved it. Actually what really made me pick mine is seeing this girls wedding on LIW-i loved the colors and said thats what i want. Everything at her wedding stood out to me, the colors for me personally were perfect and i knew its the look i would like to have.

as for bm dresses, again i saw so many pictures of bridal parties and thats what helped me. Theres colors i like but seeing so many girls all in the same color sometimes was overwhelming. But when i kept seeing this particular color for bm's i just loved the look.

So basically check out lots of pictures from real weddings, it can inspire you. What is your favorite color? that might help you by seeing what colors it goes well with and seeing if you like how it all looks together

but definitely take some time to think about what you really like and dont jump at the first thing you like. Before i even got engaged and i mean from years ago i always thought i'd do different colors, flowers and everything and im not doing any of that now. See how your ideas look when put together, again by seeing others pics.

Welcome and congrats!!! Its really a great thing to start early!!!! the color I chose was light blue because it is my favorite color! you dont have to choose a color right away, chose your dress and find something that looks good with it! Good luck and happy planning!!!

congrats!!!!!!! and its def good to start early!!!! look on the theme boards for ideas...it has tons of pics of different color schemes/themes, or do a search on any color and youll be sure to find a million pics to go along with it!
