Hello all! I'm new to this forum and I'm looking for 'expert' catering hall advice from the brides to be. I'm getting married on April 26th 2009 and I have been to a bunch of catering halls and I feel like I'm running on a hamster wheel because I can't seem to pinpoint exactly what I'm looking. I have to ask for some 'expert advice' from all of you. The things my fiance and I like from most important to least important are: 1-European look ex: greek columns, statues, gold trimmings, marble/granite floors 2- located in nassau or anyplace right off the LIE 3-outdoor gardens 4- no more than 2 events the same day We've been to these halls so far: Fox Hollow- I liked the outdoor gardens, Majestic Gardens-loved it but too far, Leonards- it didn't appeal to us (didn't have the european look we're looking for), Astoria World Manor- didn't appeal to us (didn't have the european look we're looking for), Venetian Yacht Club- we got lost going and comming but LOVED the ballrooms, Jericho- ideal, but my brother is getting married there two months after me so it's a no-no, Waters Edge- didn't appeal to us (didn't have the european look we're looking for). We're stuck!!! The one we're leaning the most towards at this point in time is Fox Hollow, because of the outdoor garden and it's easy to get to. It just breaks my heart that the place does not have the european look inside because if we get bad weather we will not even get to enjoy it. Does anyone have any advice???

I would recommend Villa Lombardi's as well. It's in Holbrook (in Suffolk County) but it's not terribly far...not like Giorgio's in terms of distance! My family and FH's family have done a number of weddings and parties there. They only have 2 events at a time, have outdoor gardens, and the food is out of this world! The cocktail hour alone could be the meal for the night. I come from a very traditional Italian family and they are still raving about the events that we had there.
PS: I'm getting married at Jericho Terrace next year as well! I know what you are going through...I had to figure out the same thing!

I'm not sure how many events they have, but what about Leonard's of Great Neck? It has a VERY European look.
I think Fox Hollow is beautiful and definitely put my vote toward that.

try sandcastle, the owner's are greek & the place is really nice. also north ritz club but they don't have a large outdoor area. and owner's there are also greek and the food is amazing.
and of course WCC but i'm biased.

If you liked the Venetian Yacht Club but the directions threw you off - I can give you very simple directions for you and your guests.
Do any of the country clubs appeal to you?

Welcome and congrats! Too bad that you cannot use Jericho Terrace (where we are getting married) because it fits perfectly with what you want. Crest Hollow has a nice outdoor area and so does Woodbury Coutry Club, as someone already suggested. Good luck.

Also, totally forgot to mention that In April Jericho Terrace will have a brand new Penthouse Room that will have just been renovated by the end of February. I do not know what room your brother is getting married in but as long as it is not that room, your weddings will look very different. If you have not seen it, go and check it out. It might work and JT sounds like exactly what you are looking for. Good luck!

Welcome! Congrats!!
I'd suggest Westbury Manor as other brides have (although I am biased!) though it doesn't necessarily have that European look. Maybe you'll change your mind once you get there

Hi! Congrats and welcome! Listen, from what you described, the first place I thought of was Villa Lombardis! But that is out East! I also thought of Jericho Terrace!

Im surprised that you didn't think Leonards is ideal .. They are total renaissance old Italian feel ... That's why we chose it. Try Russo's on the Bay or Marina del Rey

Re: New to LIWeddings, need Hall Help!
Thank you so much girls!!!! ok, I got a lot done today as far as getting availability for some of the halls. here's what i have done so far: north ritz club, not available marina del rey, im waiting for a call back crest hollow country club, not available watermill, not available floral terrace, available Sans Souci of Sea Cliff, available Grand Prospect Hall, available woodbury country club, available inn at new hyde park, available leonards, waiting for a call back for all the ones I listed that are available I have appointments to go on Wed and Thursday. If anyone has any other suggestions, please feel free to let them roll. I also decided that i dont need to choose a hall based on their garden area because i can go to the queens botanical gardens which is 8 blocks from my home for pics, hehe. This way if there is bad weather i wont be crying because i picked the hall according to the gardens. So now I'm only looking for a hall mainly based on the look of it on the inside.
