New to these boards-

Greetings all and congratulations all. I am in the process of picking out my gown and was wondering what the average amount to spend would be.

I really think it all depends on your budget. People here spend anywhere from under 1k to over 5k.

Wedding dresses can be 'cheap' (a few hundred dollars) to very expensive (several thousand). I actually asked a similar question a few weeks ago and most people were paying under $3000.

i like it it's simple yet elegant! and the 'under $1k' pricetag is certainly nice too

Congrats and welcome!! I see those $99 davids bridal commercials and they've always intrigued me. Anyone know what the $99 selection is like? I've heard of someone who got a really nice dress for that.

I like your choice!

I never even looked at this designer and saw some dresses Id liek to try one. :)

I think the Maggie Sottero I love is around 750-850.

thanks! I didnt want anything too flashy as I am in the over 35 year old crowd. but wanted to show off my figure and do without all the poofy-ness. Tried on a mermaid but my friend who came with me said it was TOO sexy for a wedding like mine..LOL

I went with a friend recently and all the $99 gowns were blue and pink. Yes, really!!!! That was at the store we were at at least... it was a little nuts.

I got my dress on Craig's List for $150. It was originally $850. I loved my dress so much! Sometimes it's worth a little risk...

I'm also in the 40 year old crowd. Dont want to be too flashy but cna still be elegant. Rather flaunt hte body while I still can! Besides, my FH deserves a sexy bride! LOL

welcome to the boards and congrats!

you can get a dress in any price range. I too am over 40 and wanted something simple- I went to Davids Bridal and got my dress for $450. Its in my album if you want to see it.

Welcome to the boards and congratulations on your engagement!!!

Dresses range in price... my advice would be to visit a place like RK Bridal in Manhattan and try on as many dresses in as many styles as possible. sometimes the one you like doesn't compliment you the way you want it to. I chose a dress I didn't think to try on and LOVE it. Give it time, don't settle and you will find THE dress. I like the one you posted above.
