Hey guys... new to this whole thing. Got engaged in August... looked at about 10 halls, and I think we found ours! I am so happy I found this site, all the information has been so helpful. I have a question though, does anyone know how much time you should leave between the church and the hall? We are doing a Thursday wedding and my church will only do a ceremony after 5???? BTW, I have had nothing but problems with this church thing!

Re: New to this....
Thanks!!!! Yeah, you would think the church would be happy to have new parishiners!!!! Well, we want a full mass... so it'll be a little over an hour, and the hall is about 25 minutes away. We are almost definitely gonna go with the Woodlands. So if we start cocktail hour at 7, you think thats enough time??? with the mass starting at 5??? Grr... no, right??

I don't think there is a right or wrong time between chruch and RH. We'll have about an hour or so between the ceremony and the reception. Congrats by the way! And Welcome!!

Re: New to this....
I think you're cutting it short. If the mass ended at 6:15, you'd need about ten minutes after to take pics at the church. You'd get to the CH just as it started. If you're taking pics at your RH, you'll miss some of your CH. If you're not planning on going to your CH, then it's not as big of a deal. Also, if you take pics before the ceremony, that'll save you some time, although I know some brides don't want FH to see them before the ceremony. If you were able to get it to start just a half hour sooner, I think you'd be ok. Otherwise, you might have to skip doing a mass if you want to attend your CH and do pics after the ceremony.

Ahhhhh... picture taking..... that slipped my mind. Yup, thanks for the advice. Maybe we could start the CH at 8 ??? I honestly am so annoyed with this church thing I would get married at the hall. I suggested it to my FH and he wants the church thing. He's religious, I'm not. I think hes scared cause it would kill his mommy, but thats another thread... hahah

Re: New to this....
congrats and welcome to the site!!!!!!!!!!!!!! usually there is a 4 hour gap between the church and reception..but that may be alittle much..I think that if you ch started at 8 and you were finished at church by about 5:30 you should have enough time...it really depends on where you want to take pictures..you could do it at the hall and save time

Ack - not to be a downer...
But you said start the cocktail hour at 8? That would mean that the reception is from 9-1am? On a Thursday? Do you think it will be a problem for your guests that have to work the following day? Just a thought for ya - I wouldn't want people to have to leave early on ya!
