New To This

So today is the first day I am actually logging onto LIWEDDINGS... and I am excited. Excited to hopefully get some help with the process... but so stressed out already about how much weddings on long island cost these days. Even if you do the bare minimum, it still comes out to a rediculous amount of money. We havent booked our reception site yet, because we are afraid of how much the rest of the vendors are going to cost us in addition to the actual hall. I am completely discouraged and am interested to learn if there are inexpensive alternatives!!! :( Hoping to learn of ways to maintain a budjet and not break the bank!

Re: New To This

Thanks guys - I will definitely check out the brides on a budget board. I was making a general spreadsheet of what I thought everything would cost...and was amazed to learn about things I never even thought of - costing so much money. Like for example, centerpeices... is it practically impossible to spend less then $50 per table! There are alot of tables! lol. And I would love to know how much limos are going for these days... Im so in the dark and need to learn so much! :) But I am sure we will figure it all out. I am excited!!

First, CONGRATS!!!

ITA about the budget bride thread. There's so many ideas on there. You're right everything seems to cost so much. I tried to over compensate on my budget to allow for anything that I might splurge on. FM me if you need any vendor recs. I'm def getting alot for the money I'm spending. So far I have my RH and photo/video and I'm very close to booking a florist.

Up on the top is a chat lingo that will help you out. As for saving ebay is a great way..I got a ringbear pillow for a total of 4.95 (it was 95 cents and $4 shipping)

I am now looking at veils even though I don't have a dress yet

Re: New To This

Perfect... thanks for the pointers. All I know so far is that we wanna get married at Villa Lombardis. If we are going to have it anywhere, we are going to have it there. DJ: Tommys Tunes and Photographer: ADA... all of which arent booked yet. But def need to get a good idea of how much limos and flowers are going to run us... and all the other smaller things, I can manage without having a panick attack... I think!!! lol

Re: New To This

Thanks for the welcome wishes.
The great thing is that my FH's cousin works for Tommy Tunes... and ADA has an office in Tommy Tune's building...and they all know and love our family... so hopefully that will help!! yippee!!

Now for the pressing questions...
how much do limos cost these days???
and is it possible to do centerpieces for less then $50 per table... cause that is the cheapest i have seen so far... :)

Congrats and welcome!

I haven't looked at Limo costs yet, but it all depends on what you need. How many? what kind? Do you need a stretch escalade or will a reg. lincoln limo do? You can call any limo company and just get a quote on what you need. Just call with the specifics. I know they have package deals available for weddings.

Centerpieces for under $50 a table I don't think is possible unless you do them yourself. You have to remember, you get what you pay for. So I think if you get it from a florist and it's only $50 a table, you might not be happy with it. I'm considering doing 3 diff. size vases filled with water and some sorta plastic flower and floating candle in each. A few votives around it and some rose pedals. Good thing is you have some time to plan so you can look for stuff from now to try and get the best price on everything.
Also I know some RH have centerpieces included, so that's an option as well.

HTH

Happy Planning!

yay look who finally joined! hey krystal!

to answer your question about limos it really depends what you are looking for....small 6 passengers can be like 200 but the navigators and such can be over $1000.
some limo companies have prices on their sites and some others will email you a quote. check out the vendor tab on the top of the page and go to limos and check out their sites/email them to get an idea...then go there and see if you can negotiate.

p.s. a law was just passed that limo companies have to charge tax now..just an fyi

Congrats and welcome!!!!!

I haven't looked into limos yet, so I'm not really sure how much they go for.

Regarding centerpieces, if you tell a florist your budget they may be able to show you some ideas of what you can do for $50 each. My centerpieces are $100 each but they are tall cherry blossom branch centerpieces. If you go with low CPs they should be less expensive. I booked with Designs by Rose located in Howard Beach. You should definitely check them out!!! They gave me a great price and many LIW brides have used them. They also work with your budget! You should definitely meet with them and see if they can come up with any ideas for $50 centerpieces. HTH!!

Krystal Welcome Jackie has been talking how you were joining forever!!!!

Dont worry I thought alot of the vendors were going to cost a lot more then what I am paying so far, You can negoitate and if you dont want to spend alot on flowers think about using candles as a centerpiece.

Im on Limos and florist right now so when I get quotes Ill pass them along to you.

Good luck and welcome!!!

I see you booked your wedding at Villa Lombardis! I'm a 2011 bride myself! I'm looking for indoor ceremony pics and haven't come across any. I only saw one picture when we booked but I want to see more. Do you have any suggestions?
