Welcome girls!!

St John that's going to be awesome! What are the marriage requirements there? Is that US territory? I found theknot.com to be really helpful with ideas. I tried a while ago and didn't like the style of the MB but I'm getting used to it. Did you hire a travel agent/wedding planner or are you oing it all yourself? I just registered with Destinationweddings.com. I hope they are helpful. I still have no idea where I want to get married yet. I looked at rockhousehotel.com in Negril, Jamica and it looks awesome but I think I'm leaning more towards an all inclusive.

tk1995sc - I feel that's it's going to save us a lot of money. We estimate we will spend about $5-6,ooo which would include our wedding ceremony and reception and 7 days at the resort which will also be our honeymoon. We only plan to have about 10-12 guests with us. It all depends on what you want. It can save you a lot of money or it could cost you more depending on where, how many guests and how extravagant it is. Good luck with your decision. Originally I was planning a wedding here in Long Island with about 50-60 guests and I looked at 24 reception halls. When I was working the numbers it kept coming out to more than I could justify spending on a wedding in our situation. We could either have the wedding here and go with the cheapest RH and vendors and settle or I can afford to be treated like a princess for my money in the Caribbean. I didn't want to settle. We plan to have our big wedding here in about 10 years if we are doing well, it would be a vow renewal.

We are thinking about the same amount of people maybe 20, we are looking at the grand bahama islands and we want to stay around the same budget 5000-6000. I hope we are able to do that. Congrats on your decision. We are in the same boat financially, and is the reason why we also decided to go this route. FH always wanted something small, but I wanted my dream big wedding. He was going along for the ride. So he is a HAPPY man right now.

It's funny because originally I just wanted to elope at a Sandal's resort but he wanted the whole wedding here thing. So we started planning and looking at catering halls and our opinions changed. The money scared him back to a destination wedding and I started envisioning this beautiful party where I could be princess for a day, lol. Then we both sat down and decided that this would realistically be best for us. If we still want the whole big thing we can have it in the future with a vow renewal. I loved the Bahamas when I went, that's a great choice! I went to Nassau though. What does his family and your family think about a destination wedding?

Well since we are paying for the whole wedding, they understand. Our thinking is that those who want to come will and we are also thinking about having a small celebration when we get back for those who were unable to attend. ARe you going to do something like that as well.

My thoughts exactly! We might have a small party when we get back but I haven't really thought about it. Nothing big, maybe just a party in my apartment or in his Mom's house. I'm doing it like this to keep our budget down. If I have any money left I'll consider it.
