New TV Drama about a LI Wedding Palace- UPDATED with article
I heard on WBLI this morning that ABC just entered into an agreement with David E. Kelly (Ally McBeal) to do a drama about a Long Island 'wedding palace' next year. The show will be shot in LA but the story is supposed to be about a LI catering hall......hmmmmm......what will they think of next?
Did anyone else hear this this morning around 7:45am?

From Newsday.com:
Hollywood - Would you believe 'Leonard's of Great Neck: The TV Series'? 'Huntington Townhouse'? ABC late yesterday afternoon announced it has green-lighted a pilot for a dramatic series about 'a Long Island wedding palace' pitched Tuesday by producer-writers David E. Kelly ('Ally McBeal') and Jason Katims ('Boston Public').
'Forty-five seconds in, we were saying, 'We're in, do it,'' said Thom Sherman, ABC senior vice president for dramatic programming. ABC Entertainment president Susan Lyne said it was 'the single most entertaining pitch we've heard all season.' The network expects a script by mid-February, with production of the series pilot probably beginning in March, though not on Long Island locations.
Sherman said the nuptial hall in the proposed fall series is not based on any particular institution on Long Island. He said it's a family drama about three sisters running the business they inherited from their bitterly divorced, still-living, meddlesome parents. The main focus will be on the family, with whatever is going on at the time business-wise - a wedding, a bar mitzvah - providing a backdrop and roles for guest stars.

So why won't they film on location? Sounds interesting, but if they're putting Long Island in the title it seems silly to film in LA... there's no palm trees in LI!
