New Wave fans...

New Wave fans...

I was just wondering if any of the new wave fans on here (you know who you are) played, or are planning to play, any new wave at the wedding. If so, which songs? I want to play a bunch, but I am not sure which ones. Here are the ones I have thought of so far, let me know please if you have other suggestions:

Enola Gay – OMD
Rock Lobster – B-52’s

Was thinking maybe Bigmouth Strikes Again, and something by Depeche Mode…I just want to make sure the songs I choose are crowd pleasers.

Thanks!

while I would have loved it...I didn't request any...b/c I really wanted to make sure that everyone was up dancing...I knew my 80 year old aunt would dance to Madonna...but not to the Smiths

We had some Erasure played at our wedding. I love DP but didn't think many songs were upbeat enough for a wedding

Yaz - Move out is a good upbeat song

Bizarre love triangle
Blue Monday

New Order!!!

And maybe some Cure.

That song by the Proclaimers...it was big in the 80's and late 80's/early 90's with the movie Benny and Joon and it's a big 'irish' song even though the guys that sing it are Scottish so that's a definite.

I would like some more but to be honest I can't think of any I like that anyone would dance to other than New Order. And of course 'I just can't get enough' - Depeche Mode.

The song is called 'I'm gonna be (500 miles)'

I had my DJ play 'Hungry Like the Wolf' by Duran Duran when we cut our cake. (I had to get them in there!! )

Oh what a fantastic thread -

Erasure - Just off the top of my head I'd suggest 'A Little Respect' or 'Oh L'Amour'

Yaz - What about 'Don't Go'?

TEARS FOR FEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Cure - wow, one of my favorite bands, what about In Between Days?

OMG... I wish I could play all the songs everyone listed!!!
We'll figure out how to throw in a Cure song or Depeche Mode, 'One Step Beyond' by Madness for our Ska lovin' friends (it's actually a good dance song I think)
One of my absolute favorite songs is 'Born Slippy' by the Underworld (Trainspotting theme)- actually more techno than New Wave, but don't think the older folks would love it hehe.

I can't even remember the names of the Erasure songs!

I even considered playing 'Only You' by Yaz as our first dance song but we decided to go with a more classic song.

if you give your DJ/band the artist's, they should be able to suggest some songs that will be appropriate

I love Born Slippy! And One Step Beyond! I agree though that the older folks might not enjoy Underworld too much!

Re: New Wave fans...

I recently became a Kazaa addict
& downloaded some pretty great music...
Remember 'Dancing in Heaven' from the movie 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun'???
Got a great dance remix of 'Take On Me' by A-Ha (LOVE them)!
I even found a dance version of 'Neverending Story' by Limahl (remember that song???)
Also found more 'danceable' remixes of Depeche Mode, Cure, etc...
So even if I don't use them for the wedding, it's just great to have for the car, etc...
