Re: new years eve

My fiance went to a wedding on New Years Eve once and said it was the BEST one he ever went to. People LOVED it! I would love to attend a wedding on New Years...I'm always looking to go out that night...

one thing the bride told me that may have just happened her year...because of the Rose Bowl she couldn't have roses for her flowers because all of the roses in the country were basically going to the Rose Bowl....isn't that weird?

as a person who's birthday is on new years eve, i'd say skip it :(. it's always overlooked and overshadowed.

FMIL went to a NYE wedding and LOVEEEED IT! She said it was so much fun! And she said she typically stays home on NYE and watches the ball drop and then goes to sleep but this got her out and she had a great time!

I personally love the idea...I think it would so much fun to go to a wedding on new years. But some people get weird about weddings on holidays...I've known people to complain about weddings on Memorial Day weekend, etc. But if you want to do it, screw everyone else and just go ahead and do it. Honestly, no matter what you do or when you do it, there will always be people giving their opinions about your wedding. Its a hard lesson, but you need to learn to ignore them and just do what you feel is right for you and your FH!

my cousin had her wedding on New Years Eve and it was AMAZING!!!! so formal...everything was gold black & silver..they had a big projection screen for the ball drop & had a balloon & confetti drop at midnight....it really was incredible!! don't listen to what people say...no matter when or wear u have ur wedding there will ALWAYS be opinions..u have to just brush them off! as for Thomas Stuart Manor, i dont know much, but i wish u all the best good luck!

I think a NYE wedding would be gorgeous!!! One that EVERYONE will want to come to!!! As for budget... Where in Illinois are you having it? I am having mine in Ohio and I am finding fabulous vendors DIRT cheap( i feel bad for the girls on the East coast prices are SOO high for anything wedding there, that's why we decided to do it here instead of Boston).... I know it's different states but still the Midwest... unless of course you are having a Chicago wedding.... How did the venue 'back' out didn't you have a contract?

We just went to NEW YEARS wedding and it was GREAT!!! It gave us something to do on New Years and we would have spent the same amount of money anyway. We were with all our friends and had the best time! They put a TV at the head of the dance floor at Midnight and we all watched the ball drop!!! GREAT TIMES!!!! They gave out noise makers and hats right before midnight.

I love the idea of a NYE wedding, its actually what i wanted, but all the halls that i looked at all have parties for NYE and it was going to cost even more for us to do it. I think its a great idea because everyone has a great big party and celebration to go to on NYE.

Re: new years eve

I'll be a new years eve bride as well

I for one hate weddings on long weekends, but if you think about it most long weekends are in the summer, which is when most people go on vacation or try to get to the beach. This is no where near the same. People are usually around there home during New Years and in search of a party!

New Years Eve is one of the most expensive nights to get married. Not only do most reception halls charge a high rate, but so do vendors such as bands and photographers.

I don't know anything about Staurt Thomas Manor, but try not to stress...

You will end up with a wonderful, memorable wedding

First of all Congrats I thought I was the last bride in 2008 but I'm glad you have joined me at the end of the year.

I think a New Year's wedding will be lots of fun. i totally understand about the comments becuase I get them about my wedding date being between Christmas and New Year's. All I can tell you is those that will want to share your special day with you will be there...don't let the comments get to you.

As faryour venue I can't give you any feedback because i've never been there...try doing a search of the bride's review or on the '07 boards for past bride's to see what they've had to say.

Good luck with everything and welcome!
