newbie!!!

newbie!!!

Hi, I am new to the board and planning my wedding in LI from Seattle. I am desperately looking for a good band that will do 40s music (swing, etc.) as well as all the standards. Any advice? I don't want cheezy!!!!

I can't help you with a band but I did want to say, welcome!! Enjoy these boards they are extremely helpful. Especially for us out of towners. I am planning from NC to LI

Welcome, also dont have a band I have a dj, check out a showcase its always better to hear in person.

Hi and welcome! Check out the websites for:
-Hank Lane
-Faze 4 Orchestras
-Franklin Wayne
There are so many more. But the ones I mentioned are pretty large companies that offer a multitude of bands and different services. I believe they have different price ranges and many different types of bands. We are using 'True Blue' through Faze 4. Also, check out the vendors on here...go to 'bands'. Some of the ones I mentioned should be on here with web address. The others should come up through a Google search. Hope this helps!
ETA: And I completely understand you on the cheesiness factor! I wouldn't recommend if I thought they were .

I second the franklin waynes bands- i love daybreaks night and really love heart and soul because thats who we are going with! good luck!

You should look at the Times Square Orchestra. We are using them. They have a nice selection of Big Band/Swing music in their repertoire.
