Re: Newbie here looking for some helpful info...
try the 2010 board, there is a lot of information about prices and stuff from all the girls that have looked at the places or booked there.

How many people will be at the wedding? What did u like/ not like about Villa Lombardi's? Do u want a place w/ 1 wedding at a time? Anything special u r looking for (place on the water, etc)?

Check out the Riviera in Massapequa. FH and I are both in PhD programs, so we are on a tight budget. They are family owned and will work with you! They usually have a min. capacity of 100 people, but they lowered it to 60 for us. FM me if you would like any other info!

Hi! We looked at Chateau la Mer. It was 75 pp I think...which is pretty inexpensive. However, we did not like the place at all. When we walked in they had vanilla candles lit, which means that they were trying to hide a smell (probably mildew). And whenever we had a negative comment about something, the guy said, 'Oh, we are going to fix that next week, next month, etc.' We were very turned off. But maybe they DID change all of that stuff and it is nice now.

I would check out Fox Hollow. They are supposed to be reasonably priced and have heard good things about them. We didnt look at Fox Hollow b/c we have so many friends that have gotten married there. We wanted to be different.
Keep in mind...If you have your wedding in the winter or early spring, the price is significantly less.

I was quoted $95/head for Fox Hollow in Sept for a Sun night wedding...they throw in a lot of stuff
I booked with Crest Hollow b/c out of all the paces we saw (12 ) they were offering the most for the least amount per head $85...the site is gorgeous...FM me if you want more info

Well we are having 100-150 the most. There really wasnt anything i didnt like about villa lombardis it was just the first hall we looked at so i want to something to compare it to. As for the Chateau la Mer yea i grew up in lindy and heard things here and there about proms that have been there ...but i figured they have been there forever and possibly fixed it up...well the fh wants to see it anyway (so ill try to go in there with a clear head). I just looked at the site for the hall in massapequa you mentioned looked nice def something to look into....thank you guys all for the help. Hopefully ill be back here in a few weeks with some good news .

U should also check out Lombardi's on the Sound. Same food at Villa Lombardi's but the place is on the water in Port Jeff. (I got married there so FM me if u have any ?'s.)
We went to a wedding at the Riviera in Massapequa. It was really nice.
Thatched Cottage in Centerport is also really nice and they are VERY reasonable.
Happy Planning!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Congrats and welcome. I'm so happy to have another date twin, there are a couple on the 2010 boards!!! Most RH's are going to increase the price because of the day and that it falls on a holiday weekend. The good thing is that it's also a Sunday. Just shop around and don't settle until you are completely happy with your choice.

Congrats and welcome!
I'm another icy Villa bride LOL, and I'd be more than happy to answer any specific questions you may have. We saw 4 halls, it was going to be 6 but we canceled our appointments at 2 (one of which was one of the halls you plan on visiting, but I won't name names), because we felt confident enough in the first few choices. Villa far surpassed everyone in terms of food quality and the ambiance we were looking for. Since we were looking for a late Fall date, November or December, we also needed a place that could accommodate indoor photos. For October, you can also take advantage of the beautiful grounds. Clearly I'm a little biased, but I think Villa is a great choice. They're a little fussy with rules, admittedly...but overall it's worth it in the end because you know the food is going to be awesome.

Re: Newbie here looking for some helpful info...
congrats!! You should look into the Sans Souci of sea cliff. They only host one affair at a time and have a beautiful view of the long island sound. Also the food is amazing. They also have menu's around 70pp. Good Luck
