Hello everyone!! I just want to say hello and introduce myself. I am Laura and FH and I just got engaged this past New Year's Eve!!
We still haven't decided on a date - I would very much like to have a date in 2010 but I am afraid there might not be enough time!! We are looking at at least 75-100 guests, and I am not really familiar with the reception halls in Long Island since I just moved here from upstate NY. Any suggestions are welcome!!
Anyways, I look forward to planning!!

Hello ellie!!
Well FH lives on the border of Queens and Nassau so I guess we want an RH in that area? I am not overly picky, as long as the food is good! We are fine with having a hall that has multiple weddings. I am really not familiar w LI since I'm from way upstate - and FH's family hasn't had a wedding in decades so they aren't much help. I guess we just want a nice place than accommodate 75-100 guests for now.

If you are willing to go out to suffolk you should try the Riverview in oakdale. :) its very pretty in the summer and laid back for the amount f people that you want to have.

Re: Newbie introducing myself
I'm not too familiar with the RHs that are around the border of Queens and Nassau. But one hall that I really liked (it was our second choice!) was Milleridge Cottage. It is located in Nassau, but it's not too far from Queens. Their cocktail hour/ceremony room is absolutely beautiful and their main ballroom is very pretty as well. If you do a search on this site you will find pics of other brides who have gotten married there. Fox Hollow is another hall in Nassau that I really like.
Of course I highly recommend my hall too ...the Old Field Club...but it is in Setauket, which is located in Suffolk County (and at least an hour from Queens). But if you want more info on my hall, just let me know!
HTH!

Welcome and congrats!
We just finished the RH hunt too, so FM me if you want more info. Also, go to the bookstore and get the 'New York Sites & Services' magazine. It has over 200 locations throughout the 5 boros and LI. It was super helpful; and don't worry, family and friends will chime in as to where you should have it

Welcome & Congrats!!!
For your size party you should look into some of the Hamelt country clubs out in Suffolk. They are beautiful and will definitely accomadate a wedding of your size very nicely.

Congrats and welcome to the addiction!!!
I always pimp out the Sans Souci in Sea Cliff - it's located in Nassau. Can totally fit your size party and it's right on the water - pretty views.

Re: Newbie introducing myself
Welcome and COngrats!
If you have any idea of the knd of setting you're looking for we can help. I mostly looked at one wedding at a time places that were HUGE, so it depends on the day
I looked at (but may be too big for you) North Ritz Club (Syosset) Floral Terrace (Floral Park - right on the border) The Inn at New Hyde Park (Self-explanatory, also right on the border)
I also looked at Riviera at Massapequa Woodbury Country Club Whch would both accomodate your size party.
For Western Nassau I'd also look at Stewart Manor Country Club. it's one at a time but I think it can accommodate a smaller party.

Re: Newbie introducing myself
welcome and congrats!!! even tho I'm from LI, I was in a similar situation to you....FH & I are both the oldest in our families with barely any cousins so we haven't been to many weddings and didn't even know where to start as far as looking at halls. I found this website (click here ) that was really awesome - they separate it by county and let you know how many guests they can accommodate and approx price range. I also found that calling up the RHs was really convenient - most would give price quotes and minimum guest counts over the phone. Good luck!

I ilve in the Queens/Nassau country bordering area and have a 100p guest list. So far i've looked at:
Swan Club Westbury Manor Jericho Terrace Chateau Briand Milleridge Cottage Villa Lombardi (a little too far though) Douglaston Manor
