MY QUESTIONS IS: I AM NOT SURE HOW TO BUDGET. I REALLY DON'T HAVE A LOT OF MONEY. DOES ANY ONE HAVE A ROUGH AVERAGE OF Of MUCH A WEDDING COSTS ROUGHLY.
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.
I am so new at this.

Re: NEWBIE WITH QUESTIONS

It really comes down to the hall. How many people are you expecting?

and welcome!

Welcome, after you pick you hall and you get your price per head then you can dtermine how much you want to spend on the vendors but the hall is your biggest expense.

First, welcome and congrats!!

The hall is the most expensive - so if I were you I would figure out around how many ppl. who you will have and start checking out halls. You will get a sense of what it costs per person for various months and days of the week and then you can determine what you can and can't afford.

Decide after you book your hall. And by the way, welcome to the board. Happy planning!!!

Re: NEWBIE WITH QUESTIONS

If you are on a smaller budget, consider having the wedding the day on a Sat or Sun. This can bring you in anywhere from 50-75 for the best halls.

Good luck.

Welcome!! Congrats!! It all depends on what you want to do. I have been to a sit down dinner wedding in a restaurant with 25 people all the way up to the works with 300 guests.

Welcome!!
I agree with everyone else. book your hall first. Figure out how many people you are inviting. Also try and choose a Friday or Sunday night because it is cheaper than a Saturday. Also if you want a holiday weekend the Sunday has the same price as a Saturday. There is a lot to consider but it will be fun and you'll be fine. Happy Planning

Re: NEWBIE WITH QUESTIONS

Congrats and Welcome!!!
We just booked our hall and we just came up with a budget for the rest of our wedding. It is so much easier now that I have a ballpark figure I can use when searching for my vendors.

Re: NEWBIE WITH QUESTIONS

start with the guest list (since that's the blk of your budget....

then the church...
then the hall...be flexible with the date....in case another date is cheaper than the one you want

HTH

welcome to the addiction that is LIW!

Re: NEWBIE WITH QUESTIONS

I know as mentioned above that if you are willing to have your wedding during non peak months (peak is May-October) the prices also go down significantly!
Good luck, welcome and congrats!!!

Re: NEWBIE WITH QUESTIONS

i also agree with the saturday or sunday afternoon deal - we chose a saturday afternoon and are paying 75 a head instead of 99, which really makes a difference depending on the size of the wedding you want. The rest of the vendors you really need to shop around for... we will wind up paying approx 30,000 for our entire wedding - minus the honeymoon.. good luck, welcome, and happy planning!!
