I just recently got engaged and I am so excited. I started this post from the previous newly engaged post since that one was going onto new pages...hehe.
Anyway, so I'm already trying to get into the full swing of planning. I currently live in NJ but I grew up on Long Island, and I'm definitely having my wedding on the island. I have been looking on tons of web-sites and my best friend gave me some of the brochures that she got when she was looking. Right now (w/o actually visiting) my top two picks are the Riviera in Massaqequpa and Timber Point in Great River.
Does anyone have any pros or cons about either???
I'm going to actually make appointments to go see them in two weeks.

Re: Newly engaged 2 - Reception ideas
I actually narrowed it down to those 2 as well and decided to go with Timber Point. The main reason's were we felt like we were getting more for our money at Timber, the set up of the room worked better for our size of group. I also liked the sales staff better and felt that overall the reviews were better. But the Riviera was really beautiful, and in the end for us the deciding factor was it's location. Good luck!

I was thinking of doing March, but then I get nervous because of what could happen with the weather. how was your sisters day? was she able to take pictures outside?

She was able to take pictures outside. We first went to Whitestone Park before getting to the Riviera so she had pictures there and then when we got to the Riviera she took some outside in the gazebo and stuff. She actually got really lucky... about fifteen minutes into the cocktail hour once more or less everyone had arrived it started raining! Perfect timing and it stopped before the wedding ended.

Re: Newly engaged 2 - Reception ideas
I went to Riviera the only reason I didn't go with them is because to me it seemed that the CH room and the reception room was just one big room and I know we are going to have kids at the wedding so I didn't want them to be doing laps around the hall.becuase it is one big circle. but other than that the place is beautiful
