Newly engaged

Hi ladies,

My FH and I are newly engaged (9/4/2011) and I am already overwhelmed trying to keep track of everything and make sure that I am not missing anything. Is there some checklist/book something that any of you maybe using to make sure nothing is forgotten? Oh, we're getting married on 4/29/2012 - 208 days!!!!
So far we:
booked the RH
I put the deposit down on my dress
picked BM dresses
ordered Save the Dates
ordered favors
picked out and purchased nvitations
purchased BM gifts
All of this is the little stuff and we still have to decide on the big things - photographer and DJ.
I am really glad to be a part of this website and thanks for any help.
Pam

Do most brides pick a preferred vendor of the RH?

I can't speak for everyone, but I haven't. I don't live near my RH so most of my vendors probably won't be from LI (though I can't say for certain since there's a lot I haven't booked yet).

Wow, so much done!

For DJ, I HIGHLY recommend Phil from After Hours. He puts on a great show, his customer service is amazing, and he is over all a great vendor to work with. I have no doubt in my mind that everyone will be dancing at my wedding. He gave us a great package for a very reasonable price. FM me if you want quotes! I also recommend Thomas Paul for photography, again, you get the bang for your buck! FM me if you have any questions, and good luck! :)

Welcome and congrats!! You got so much done is just a month!!
I don't know about others, but only one of my vendors is a preferred vendor from my RH. The main reason we went with them was bc it was a stipulation in our contract that we had to use a house florist for our CPs.

Re: Newly engaged

Welcome and Congrats!!! You got some of the hard stuff done already like the dresses. I would start by looking at the house vendors just because they usually will give you a good deal. From there I started to figure out the price ranges. When looking for a DJ make sure you see them actually perform to know if you like them. For a photographer find a person whose style you like, if its traditional or contemporary.

There are checklists on weddingwire.com and theknot.com. I don't follow the timeline on them, but it does keep me on track.

Great. Thanks. I will definitely check them out. There are just sooo many vendors, I don't know where to turn or even what is appropriate to pay.
