Newly engaged and already overwhelmed...
Hi everyone! Just got engaged earlier this week (still taking it all in) and even though it's all new, we have our list of places that we really are interested in for (hopefully) next Oct/Nov.Only problem is that the way our schedules have worked out, the earliest weekend we can go look at venues isn't until mid-November.
I am trying to not worry about the lack of availability in the venues we want but I feel like that's going to be inevitable and while I'd rather not move the date to the spring, I may need to be prepared for that..
Anyway....
I would really appreciate any info on any of the venues that we are interested in below. How was the food, the space, pricing, etc. Thanks for the help!!
The Woodlands at Woodbury
Mansion at Timber Point
Bourne Mansion
Bellport Country Club
Glen Cove Mansion
The Royalton
The Carltun
Carlyle on the Green

Re: Newly engaged and already overwhelmed...
Welcome and congratulations! I think you will be ok with November, October dates may even surprise you, especially if you're flexible on the day (Fri-Sun). Sure it's better to do sooner than later, but if there's nothing you can do about it, don't start making yourself crazy yet! There's plenty of time for that during the wedding planning process lol good luck!!!edited: Unfortunately I don't have any information on those venues, sorry

Thank you! That made me feel a bit better. I am definitely open to Friday nights. Honestly we probably couldn't afford half the places on my list unless we had it on a Friday night, but I don't mind at all. :)

Congratulations! I dont have info on any of those - but I do have for East Wind, Chateau La Mer, The Somerley at FH and Lands End if your interested.I had my sweet 16 at Mansion at Timber Point - it was along time ago but I remember havign a great time. Ive been to a wedding at Bellport CC and I remember the food being good - we didn't check it out because we thought it would be too small for amount of ppl we are planning

Thank you!! And I would love the info for The Somerley and Land's End! We are hoping to have around 200 people (FH family is huge but I am hoping to keep the numbers down)

Congratulations!!! Welcome aboard. I think you should definitely be fine with setting a date for oct/nov. maybe what might be helpful if you start setting up appoinwnts now for Nov. Maybe try to see 2 on a Saturday and 2 on a Sunday. Unfortunately I do not have any quotes for the venues you listed - sorry. Happy planning and enjoy every minute of it! Keep us posted!

Congratulations! I know October is more popular than November, especially on Saturdays but you may have luck! I don't have any info on those venues but I have heard enough that I know you can't go wrong with all of them!

I am getting married May 2016 at Bellport Country Club (a Friday night - 150 person minimum) I will send you FM. What sold us was the food tasting (you can book it before you book the venue it costs money but if you book its credited towards your deposit). I also have info on Timber Point I will send you FM.

Bourne Mansion is the dream venue but I don't want to fall in love with it before I see if I can even afford it or not!

I'll be honest with you, it depends on how many people you have and when you want to do it. We only had 125 people which was great to begin with; we originally wanted November, but we settled for March because the per person was lower and so was the site fee. With those parameters, it ended up falling in the mid-range of what we would have spent for a November or October wedding at our other venues (we also looked at Glen Cove and Woodlands, which was our 3rd choice). If you're willing to make compromises it can be affordable! Let me know if you have any questions and I will send you my info tomorrow :)

Don't be overwhelmed! I felt like this really early on, but once you pick your venue, everything else starts to fall into place really quickly. (Of course, I might be more relaxed than I ought to be... We'll see in six months, lol.)I called the Carltun and the Royalton because I wanted to visit both places, but they were both way out of my price range. What I do remember is that they were both very open about their pricing. They gave me quotes over the phone. I like to assume it's because they didn't want to waste their own time or mine. Either way, it worked out very well for me. So, don't be afraid to ask for numbers over the phone. Some places will give you a number. It might change in person, but at least you'll have a ballpark idea before you show up there.
