Newly engaged and Needs venue help!
Hello All!This is my first post on any wedding forum and excited to get some great feedback. My fiancé and I are from Brooklyn and are looking for a venue in NJ or LI. I have been to reception halls in NJ such as Westmount County Club and absolutely fell in love. Unfortunately many of these venues do not have a summer date available. I'm a teacher and summer is my preferred season. Many of my colleagues have recommended The Inn at New Hyde Park, Glen Cove Mansion, Larkfield, and Bourne Mansion. We are looking for a upscale venue that will not leave us broke! Any ideas on pricing for Friday or Saturday evening ? Thanks ladies!!

Congrats and welcome to the boards! Friday night pricing would definitely be cheaper than Saturday night at most places.

Congrats and welcome! I would start looking at venues ASAP for a summer 2014 wedding. I booked in February this year for June 2014 and some places did not have many dates available, although I was looking at venues that only do 1 wedding at a time. Friday nights will be cheaper then Saturday nights.

Welcome and Congrats! Yes I would start looking as soon as possible, and keep an open mind with the dates, if you find a place you love it will be easier to say 'any summer date you have open!' then look around for one specific date. Happy Hunting and Good Luck!

Welcome! Congrats! Summer 2014 is probably filling up fast. We are a brooklyn couple too. These boards have been super helpful for us - especially with venue. We are getting married in March because summer pricing broke our budge but we are really happy that we did. The inn at NHP is really pretty but so big, I was there for a sweet 16 and they had that + 2 weddings the same night. Depends on how you feel about multiple events. We are the only event the day of our wedding at Bellport, which was a selling point to us. Keep us updated!

Congrats and welcome! I suggest the Royalton in Roselyn. If you do a Friday night wedding it won't leave you broke and it's very upscale without being over the top!

The Inn at NHP is BEAUTIFUL, as are the other places you listed. I checked out the Inn at NHP and it was the pricest of all of the places I looked at though =/ and I wasn't a fan of the dancefloor, I thought it was kind of small. Larkfield is gorgeous though and I heard the food is amazing. Larkfield has 2 weddings at a time and the Inn only has one, which could attribute to the higher per plate price... I'm not 100% sure but I think the two mansions you listed have a site fee. Maybe check out the estate at east wind, they are a mansion and they don't charge a site fee

Congrats and welcome! FH and I live in BK and are getting married at the Bourne in January. I do know that it is a LOT cheaper to get married there in the winter as oppose to the summer, but let me know if you have any questions. Good luck!

Thanks ladies!! I feel a bit overwhelmed because I cant seem to find venues that are the perfect package. I will certainly set up appointments at Glen Cove and Inn at NHP. Anyone know what the site charges are for those mansions?

Congrats on your engagement and welcome!!! I agree with all the girls, start looking immediately at venues for a summer 2014 wedding. And yes Friday and Sunday nights are a lot cheaper than Saturday nights. Two of my cousins got married at the Inn in New Hyde Park and their weddings were fabulous. Food was great and the grounds are beautiful. Good luck and happy planning!!
