My FH (ahh that's still so strange to say!) and I just got engaged a little over a week ago . I want to start looking for engagement party venue's, but I have no clue where to start?!?!
We are going to be inviting around 110 people and want to try and stay around the $50 per person and below price range.
Does anyone have any good recommendations on halls/restaurants?

I think a lot of places are going to be booked for holiday parties...are you looking to do it after the holidays?...I would check out Captain Bill's in Bay Shore. I have had many parties there and they are reasonable in price...Irish Coffee Pub in East Islip is good too

I agree, planning around the holidays would be crazy lol...Captain Bill's is really nice. We considered the Bay View house there for our wedding, but I have had so many events in there and in the smaller rooms that I wanted something new lol

I have been to backyard engagement parties. They are so pretty! I wish I could, but our backyard isn't big enough for over 100 people.

FH and I had ours at his Fire Dept Hall. It was soooo economical for us. A few of my friends also had theirs at VFW Halls because they are reasonably priced. If you go the route of a hall like that, C&C Catering is fantastic. Ppl still talk about how good my food was at my engagement party. They also have really good package prices. If you want the pricing we paid in 2012 FM me!

La Famiglia is amazing! we had ours at the plainview location but they have a bunch of places :)

I have been calling around different places and the rates are a little more then I expected. I was thinking of looking into a hall. We want a Saturday night so that night is a little more pricey, which we expected. I have a few places on my list...if they don't work out I will definitely be FM you!!

That's a lot of people! I don't know if this place fits that many but check out la piazza in Merrick (I think). Heard the food is good. Maybe you could do a buffet or do it on a Sunday? Or on Memorial Day to cut costs?

I know...it really is a lot of people! And that's with keeping our list down. We both have huge families. I actually live in Merrick, La Piazza is really good! Their food is amazing. We actually booked the Knights of Columbus in Seaford. The place is really nice for a KOC. The price was very reasonable and its close to where we live. So it worked out perfect!
