Newly engaged! Watermill brides.. help!

I just got engaged on June 26, 2014! We decided on a 2 year engagement so that we could save more money. For months I had my heart set on The Estate at East Wind. I went to see it on Saturday and was disappointed because my guest count was too small for that room. I would like about 100 guests. The other rooms just weren't my style. Afterwards we went to see Watermill. I had no expectations but I fell in love. I was smiling from ear to ear and once I heard the price for a Saturday afternoon wedding I was even happier because I thought the quote would be much higher. It is at the top of our budget but I'm willing to cut other costs to get married there. FH convinced me to look at more places just to be sure. We went to Smithtown Landing Country Club but didn't like it. We have an appointment in a couple of days to see the Stewart Manor Country Club but honestly my heart is set on Watermill. I'm just nervous because we haven't seen many places.

I'd appreciate any info I can get on the Watermill. Past or present Watermill brides, why/why not did you choose them?

I've never been to a wedding there but my ambulance corps used to have their installation dinner there every year and we've never had any complaints. The food was always good, the people were nice and the cocktail hour was pretty big. Congrats on your engagement and good luck! Yay for more 2016 brides! =D

I got married at the Watermill in 2011. It was the best day ever :) I, like you, fell in love the second I walked in. People still talk about my wedding three years later. The food was great, the service was great, everything was fabulous! I would not change one single thing.

I've heard great things about Watermill and we received a great price as well but it was too far for me so I didn't go see it in person. Are you set on a date? Off season Like January or February will get you a great price. I think we were quoted $59 or $60pp for Jan 2016 and the outside is decorated beautifully in the winter with lights.

Also have you looked at the Riviera? They are also very reasonably priced and its also on the smaller side, one wedding at a time, etc.

Also I have a ton of pictures of Stewart Manor Country club if you're interested.

I've been to the Watermill for one wedding, but it really just rubbed me the wrong way. The vegetables were definitely frozen and not fresh, and they were cold when they were served. The most awful thing ever though, was that the wedding was over at 5:00, and at precisely 4:45 a bunch of guys came in and started vacumming the room. They started taking the chairs away and moving the tables as the bride was having her last dance...that was absolutely classless and tacky, and made me think it was a wedding factory.

You are right! that's definitely classless. If I decide to book with them I will definitely address this issue first as our wedding would be ending at 5 pm also.

I was going to do the watermill because it is so close to my home...but then I went to East Wind and my FH was eating the food at the bridal showcase and was like this is where we are getting married! Prior to that he was all for the watermill due to past events he attended there with the ambulance company he worked for.
