Newly engaged WM bride with lots of questions!! Help please :-)

Hi everyone!

I have posted before but not really introduced myself. My name is Sam, and I just got engaged to the absolute love of my life on July 3rd in the Swiss Alps. I live in France at the moment with my fiance, but am coming home to Long Island this Thursday to plan my wedding and work a bit, as well as work out some visa things. I am completely clueless on this whole wedding planning thing so I need all the help I can get!

Anyway, I am getting married on Friday, December 17th of this year at the Westbury Manor, and need to get a dress ASAP!! Does anyone have any suggestions for where I should go to get a dress?? My budget is probably mid range I'm guessing, although I am not too sure, maybe $3000- $4000.

Question #2: What is a reasonable budget for flowers. I will be having 5 bm and my fiance has 6 gm, plus I will need my bouquet, and probably 12 or 13 centerpieces... probably low, maybe a few high ones. Anyone have any idea of an approx budget, as well as maybe some inexpensive florists to recommend? Also, what other places do you think I will need flowers for? WM provides ceremony and ch decor.

Question #3: Since my fiance is from England, we will have a ton of oot guests. I have booked a block of rooms at the Hyatt Place Garden City for a pretty great price (I think) and it seems to be a really nice hotel. I had my mom go there yesterday to take a look and she said she loved the hotel, but the location was really industrial and not nice at all. Does anyone have any other places to suggest, or do you think it will be ok?

Question #4: Sorry this is the last one for now, I promise Does anyone know what color linens and chair sashes the WM has available included? My bm dresses will be royal purple. Also, any suggestions for accent colors are welcome

I blocked rooms at the hampton inn right next door to the hyatt place and I love it there!!!!!!

The also have light pink, white, dark green, maroon, sage green, black and I can't think of anymore I think that the gold would look amazing with a dark purple!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know the linens and sashes are included, but I am not sure what colors are available. I have to find this out myself - i will let you know

First of all congrats,


Westbury Manor is wonderful, we just got married there 3 weeks ago and they put on a great presentation. we had such a great time.please email or fm me if u have any questions. My colors also included dark purple and they did not have anything to match except ivory but more of a white. They also have pink, gold, silver, and i think red and baby blue. The pics came out great and i will post asap with my review, U have nothing to worry about at WM. Pam was our maitre 'd and Naomi my bridal attendant. Felicia was our bm and was nothing short of fantastic. Great choice!

I can only answer the dress question.

Kleinfelds in NYC is one of the best places to go.

You wont have time to order a dress probably, and they have off the hook samples for you to buy off the rack.

Flowers, i would expect from 1500-2500, depending on what your looking for.

Im a WM bride and we booked at La Quinta Inn, great price, and great rooms- spacious...

They dont have much of a selection for linens. my BMs are eggplant, and we went with ivory, cause it was ivory, white, a deep forest green, gold, and some other colors i cant recall off hand.
