FH and I are thinking of going to Newport for the weekend after our wedding since we have to wait to take a honeymoon. Just wondering, how long does it take to get there from the Orient Pt ferry? How long is the ride from New London...also any recommendations for places to stay?? TIA!

i love newport. we stayed at the Francis Malbone house in the Counting House suite. The place is so beautiful and quaint.

omg, castle hill in is GORGEOUS and if its for your mini moon you should ABSOLUTELY splurge and stay there, its beautiful. I've been there for brunch a couple times and it so nice.

I have a house in Newport and Castle Hill is my favorite place to go for a drink. It's beautiful overlooking the harbor! Great food as well.
The ferry takes about 1 hr 20 min. Then it's about another 1 hr drive from New London to Newport. Info attached below.
Im actually goin to a wedding there this summer and sooo excited.. its at Bell Mer and loooks absolutely gorgeous!! I have heard great things about Newport you will love it!:!)

Its the way to go. Its a nice drive out, a nice ferry ride and a very easy drive from New London to Newport. You miss all the horrible 95 traffic.
2010 bride crashing I completely agree, it is the best way to go...and I love Newport! I went to college there. We are also looking into having our mini-moon there since we are waiting to take the HM.

Who is getting married at Belle Mer? THAT was my dream place after I realized I couldn't afford Castle Hill...not like Belle is a bargain, lol.

We're probably going to do Newport for a minimoon too, now that we're most likely not going to Greece until September 2010, AHHHHH.
