Next Generation Housing - Long Island Brain Drain

This morning I heard an ad on the radio about the Housing Market on Long Island causing a Brain Drain on long island. It went on to say to find out more information about it and to see how it can be remedied to visit their website. I posted the link below.

Next Generation Housing

I just glimpsed at the website so I am not sure what to make of it yet. It seems like its a campaign of some sort to improve the Housing market on Long Island. What do you all think? Will it work?

nice idea and all, but how do they expect to do this? as long as people are willing to buy $500K houses that need work.,,, just so they can live here, I don't see how it will get better.

ETA: almost everytime a builder buys land and wants to build condos, it gets voted down.

How affordable are these homes though?
The homes that they show are all out East....what about those of us who prefer to stay in Nassau because of jobs, etc.

LOVE the ads though! Totally loving those!

i saw the commercial for this last night. its definitely intriguing but i'm concerned about all the houses being out east also. what are the odds they have low cost housing in nassau? slim to none...

slim to none is right. there is no more land in Nassau. and everytime someone wants to build a condo complex, the residents shoot it down. (like most recently in Syosset). not that Syosset would ever be a low cost area!

There's TONS of housing going up in Jericho/Syosset area...and it is MAJOR $$$$. No affordability for those of us in Nassau...

the former CEO of my company wanted to build condos in Syosset and the residents were outraged. they were supposed to be very upscale condos, but it still got shot down.
