Re: Niagra Falls...
I recommend it, it was real nice. And yes the canadian side is ALOT better. BUt definitely stop on the NY side for 30mins or an hour just for the views, bc the view is great there

Re: Niagra Falls...
the canadian side is definitely nicer! i can't remember the name of the hotel i stayed in, i was there like 8 or 9 years ago.
while you're there, i highly recommend eating at the revolving restuarant at the top of the skylon tower. http://www.skylon.com
we also did a tour of the falls on maid of the mist, it was pretty cool to be so close to the waterfalls
You could actully stay in skylon.. it's a hotel.. fh and i stayed there and we had a view of both the american and the candaian falls... there were rainbows over the falls it was georgeous...
Keep in mind there is ALOOOOTTTT of walking so bring comfy shoes.

Re: Niagra Falls...
FH and I went last summer and we stayed on the canadian side at the Radisson. My FSIL used to stay at the Courtyard by Marriott and they said that place was nice also. We just planned another trip to go in February cause the prices were so cheap. We got a fallsview room for a great price at the Marriott Fallsview...
The first time we went we booked through expedia, but sometimes if you just book through the hotel you get more of the accomodations and its cheaper.
Definitely wear comfy shoes cause there is a lot of walking to do. There are a lot of fun touristy things that we had fun doing...enjoy!

Re: Niagra Falls...
its supposed to be really awesome!
DH booked us a trip for my birthday weekend [january] with a hot-tub and fireplace [like we always get] and we HAD to cancel, and resheduled, cause lets just say, it'll be THAT time! :( so much for DH trying to suprise me :( now dh wants to postpone it til maybe april or may when its not to cold . . . and the prices keep going up w/that particular rm, so god only knows what we'll wind up paying a few months from now...
i was looking at the marriot . . . http://www.niagarafallsmarriott.com/
I heard the Hilton was nice to . . .
The Poconos is beautiful too, if ur looking for something closer, their the 'niagara falls of pennsylvania!'
good luck!

Re: Niagra Falls...
The Canadian side is the 'fun' side - the casino, tons of bars/restaurants, silly museums (wax museums, haunted houses, stuff like that) and shows. We stayed there years ago and there was tons to do. I don't remember where, though, sorry. I only remember that I was 19 and I thought it was so cool that I could drink and gamble!
The American side, btw, is much less 'done up', but that's the side that concentrates more on the beauty of the area - lovely parks and stuff, and was very romantic. And it's fun to walk the bridge from Canada to America - how often can you walk to another country?

I would suggest poconos for another time. If she wants to go to niagara falls, its obviously to see the falls, one of the wonders of the world, you wont see anything like that in the poconos. I do love the poconos too, FH has a house there and we go there quite often for the weekend. And even stayed at SKytop in the poconos twice which is beautiful and i would recommend to others, although it can be on the pricey side so wouldn't always be something i suggest someone HAS to do. Poconos is nice if you want to go skiing or have a nice quiet weekend. Not many bars or things like that. But they are building a casino now, they tore down the mount airy lodge and putting the casino in its place...but who knows when that will be done.

It was a suggestion in case they didn't want to take a long trip, or were on a budget, and I quoted 'the niagara falls of pennsylvania' from the website, i NEVER compared it to niagara falls b/c theres no comparrison. Some people are not willing to take a long drive to naigara falls, and there is nothing wrong with the Poconos.
And not everyone is always into drinking, People can have fun w/o liquor.

Uhmm you don't need to tell me people can have fun w/o liquor bc i rarely drink. And why are you telling ME that theres nothing wrong with the poconos, didn't you read the part where i said FI has a house there and we go alot for the weekend, and have even stayed somewhere else there even though he has a house. Theres more to do in general in Niagara falls, museums, casinos, bars and clubs and you dont have to get drunk if you go, shopping, shows etc.
I know some people are not willing to take long drives there but she obviously wants to go and would do so.
