Since I know my date of conception I use that. But most doctors will use the date of your last period to figure it out. Pregnancy math is just not normal math for some reason

Re: Due Dates
so michele you are 11 weeks from your conception date.. So you are based then on 38 weeks..

Re: Due Dates
I have no idea how these people figure out any prego math but I am 11 weeks and 3 days today- based on that stupid little round thing that the midwife (and all doctors) have on their desks.

Re: Due Dates
I also knew my conception date, so no mystery there, but my doctor calculated my dd by the first day of last AF.

Re: Due Dates
I didn't do the math... LMP was 2/4, dd is 11/11 I'm too lazy to figure it out!

Re: Due Dates
Even though it says 40 weeks, you're not really pg for 40 weeks because the first 2 weeks is the time when it's implanting and stuff -- right? In other words, you're pg BEFORE you actually are.
I don't get the whole time table frame they come up with either -- you take the last day of LMP, add 7 days and then go back 3 months.
My LMP was 12/9 and I'm due 9/9 (although my orig DD was 9/16 based on a 29 day cycle or some such nonsense).
It's very confusing, especially when they change your DD based on the size of the baby at a sonogram or amnio!!!
And does it really matter because when all is said and done, hardly anybody has the baby on their actual DD anyway!!!

Re: Due Dates
A 38 week pregnanc yis based on the fact that many women conceive on the 14th day of their 28 day cycle. But, since this is not always true, many go by 40 weeks or 280 days of pregnancy. I agree that your EDD might change based on your sono. Mine changed by 2 days.

Re: Due Dates
My EDD is actually 41 weeks from my LMP. Since my cycle was never 28 days...closer to 35.
I thought my EDD would be June 30th since I know *exactly* when I ovulated (our 1st Anniversary ), but at our 6 week sono, our Peanut measured for July 3.
Regardless, he/she can feel free to enter the world any time after Father's Day! I have plans 'til then!!

Re: Due Dates
When I went to the OBGYN the first time and they said I was 5 weeks, I almost fell off the table I had just gotten back from the honeymoon But the 40 weeks start the LMP. I'm also pretty sure when I conceived, and both equal the same date
