I was at plenty of jacka nd Jill Baby Showers. I think it is a fine idea. Afterall, the dad should be included in as much as possible

Re: Jack and Jill Showers

A mutual friend of ours had a Jack&Jill baby shower and I have to admit, most of the guys there (especially my FH) was not thrilled to be spending a Sunday afternoon oohing and aahing over baby bumpers and burp cloths!!!

Re: Jack and Jill Showers

i was at a J&J baby shower last fall, and honestly, other than the Dad-to-be, the men hated it!! part of it might have been b/c it was a sunday during the fall (football), but mainly most guys just aren't into that sort of thing.

Yea.. I can see how most men would be bored.
I was only thinking though of having my dad and my brothers, my husband and my son..
They would be the only men I know that would actually enjoy themselves

I really think it depends on the people and how you host the party.
If the guys are hanging out seperately from all the 'shower stuff & gift opening' it would be better.
I think it all depends on how you do it.

I'm sure that DH would go if he had to, but I think he'd be bored, also. IMHO, I can't imagine that the guys would want to sit through it. My SIL wants one, so we'll find out.

I think it's a great idea ... I guess it depends on the men who get invited to it. I asked my DH if he wanted a Jack & Jill Bridal Shower - I don't think he laughed so hard! Oh well ... I guess some men can't appreciate all the wonderful gifts and the bonding time!

had a J&J bridal shower.,,and bachlor/ette dinner.
Rob thought the guys would prefer NOT being at the baby shower...so they all hung out at my house..2 blocks from the shower...and came over later for cake and coffee

Re: Jack and Jill Showers

I think that Jack and Jill showers have their place. It really depends on what you want, as well as the people hosting the party. For me, I prefer an all female shower. I don't know many guys who like to ooh and haaa as each little sock is opened. Also, since my moms are throwing my shower (mom and stepmom) I think it would be unfair for them to have to double their guest list. That would be very, very costly. So I guess it is really a personal preference.

I know my DH preferred it the way it was and so did b/c I know he's not into all the baby goodies like I am. He did hang out with my BIL's & male nephews at my SIL's house a few blocks away and came over later to eat the food and pack the gifts into the car.

The look cute though, I bet they are more popular in other areas of the country more than here. My friend is having a baby and lives in Atlanta and she said that they don't do surprise showers there so I know different things are more popular in different areas

I agree it depends on the people, I didn't include my friends DHs or any other males besides family. But, mostly my shower will be family. When my sister brought up planning my shower before she, I just told her that a relaxed party atmosphere/family get together would be nice instead of a traditional shower.

We just had a J/J bridal shower for my cousin. IT went over well but was more like an e-party. No gift opening.

A good friend of ours had a J/J baby shower that was more a traditional baby shower with gift opening and games. My DH said the Dad 'is now in the Mans Hall of Shame' the guys hated it. But it all depends on your crowd and how 'showerish' the event is.

Plus Scott's co-workers throw Showers for everyone all the time so he will get a 'shower' at work, and I will be lucky if I get a card from my co-workers SO my baby shower will be all for me
