No balloons PLEASE!

No balloons PLEASE!

So I can't afford a wedding coordinator, but my maid of honor has graciously offered to help. I love her to death she has been my best friend since junior high and though she had the best taste until she suggested balloons to make the room look fuller!
My catering hall is allowing me to have my party in their bigger room. It fits a maximum of 200, with a minimum of 100.
I have 85 people.

So we need ideas on how to make the room look fuller.

I am thinking of haveing tall centerpieces, and perhap some greek colums with flowers on top in several areas of the room to make it look fuller.

If you ladies can give me ideas on anything other than balloons, I'd be eternally greatful. (it is not a babyshower...balloons....eewww)

Thanks

Although you may not be partial to the idea, I wasn't either....my cousin and his wedding had all white balloons and some silver (or whatever your colors are) and let me tell you that it look absolutely stunning. Def. filled up the room because they didn't have that many people and it made the room so pretty.....before you x out the idea maybe try to look at some pictures.

Good Luck!

You can try adding more tables. Like seating 6 at each table instead of 8. You'll have to get more centerpieces, but that's the easiest way to really fill up a room.

I totally agree. I think if done right, with the right colors, balloons could look really nice!

I dont like balloons either. You can do feather CP's, those look full or a chunky kind of flower , like the hydreagea

If your place allows it and your budget does as well you can hang centerpieces from the ceiling or you can drap toile and lights from the ceiling.

here's a silly idea...invite LIWedding brides to be seat-filler...we won't eat, just sit at the tables...told you it was a silly idea!

What about renting some trees to place in the corners, like full ficus trees, and then threading them with white lights, or doing some uplighting. Talk with your florist about this.
Columns can help too, but trees camouflage more.

I'm not sure where your RH is but when we were looking at RH's and we looked at Chateau Briand they had material draped from the ceiling that made the room appear more intimate. You might want to try something like that... I think that they have a picture on their website!@

I think I would do taller centerpieces.. that are 'full' and maybe have more tables....... 6 -8 people at a table MAX!

Also have you thought about having tables in the reception hall.. displaying pictures of you and your FH... I know a lot of people put these in the lobby but you could do a nice display in the room being that you have the SPACe!

Re: No balloons PLEASE!

Huge centerpieces and chair covers are supposed to make a room seem smaller. try that

May I just say how much I love this website!
You guys are awsome!

I think I am going to go with the tall/big centerpiece and drape fabric idea.
I am going to ask my RH if they allow it.
If not I will defenetely go for the colums and just place some nice flowers over them..

I am also going to add an a table with pictures from the family and friends vacations, what a great idea, I think people will love it.
We have traveled a lot, and not just internationally but we love roadtrips to small towns througout the US. plus we have been together since HS so I think something that shows us through the past 8 years would be wonderful
I love this idea because since I am in such a tight budget its so cheap if you think about it.....

Ladies you are great! Thanks a million......
