I have a very large family which includes 35 first cousins! Some of my cousins are older but I have a lot of cousins (about 13) that are 10 years old or younger. I have witnessed these cousins at other family parties/events (baptisms, communions, etc) acting crazy, running around, playing underneath tables and even purposely clogging up the toilets in the bathroom with toilet paper!
Needless to say, I do NOT want these children at my wedding, however, I am very close to my older cousins (ranging from ages of 13-23) and would like them there because they are old enough to know not to run around all night. How do I adress this to my aunts and unlces that the kids that are 13 years or older are allowed but that I don't want the younger kids? Do I put this on the wedding invitations? If so, what is the correct wording I should use?

Re: No Children Allowed
I put on mine 'Adult Reception'.
We only had one person ask! (And another person asked what would be going on that it was an 'adult' reception - we had to explain that we didn't want kids there....he thought with the wrong head )

Re: No Children Allowed
for the families with kids over 13 you put: mr & mrs last name & family for the families with younger kids just put mr & mrs lastname

That would probably be the best way to put it.

Re: No Children Allowed
ON your invite and/or reception card, indicate 'adult reception'
AND
on your inner envelopes write out all those invited. no 'and family' no 'and guest'
if it's aunt sue and uncle bob and you don't want janie and billy, write Sue and Bob on the inner and do NOT include any additional names.
ALSO, a hint from itslaurie, she wrote out RSVP cards with a line for guests to write how many were coming out of the number invited...
so guests would write in 2 of 2. clearly 4 of 2 is wrong.
people may still ask and/or rsvp with their kids. when they do, simply call them/explain to them that it's adult only.

yup yup yup. i wrote 'adult reception'...as well as the '___ places have been reserved in your honor' so there was no confusion.
you will also have to pass the word yourself. call & express the kid issue to them. i basically said 'hey, if i say yes to one i have to say yes to all...which is why i'm saying NO to all children.'
be prepared for some backlash.....especially if you tell family...'well jack & jill are over 13, but john is under 13 and he can't come' people will get upset about that, but you'll have to handle it!

I agree....def. put Adult Reception and the guest # people will call to ask and then you just have to tell them that no children under 13 are invited

Re: No Children Allowed
I think you should talk to your aunts and uncles ahead of time and let them know how you feel, so they're not expecting to bring their kids and then upset when they aren't invited as a family. I think you're right to not want the younger kids at the wedding. I went to a wedding last weekend where there were about 8 kids under 8 and they were loud and roudy and wild and frankly, very annoying (and I LOVE these kids!). A wedding isn't the place for roudy kids, but make sure your aunts and uncles understand so that they don't get offended and also so they don't get the kids all excited for the wedding and then have to explain to them why they can't go.
