you don't NEED a flower girl. No one will think it's weird or anyting if you don't have one.
if you still think you have to have one in order to feel complete (which i totally understand) it doesnt have to be a member of your family. do any of your friends have little girls? neighbors? if you arent super close you may have to buy the FG dress but you can get inexpensive ones that are great.
also... as bad as this is gonna sound and i totally freaked out when i heard about it... there are people who rent out their kids for weddings. I believe the owner of the Wedding Center meant it when he said he would rent his grandkids with a dress if you need a flower girl.

Re: no flower girl
I'm not having one b/c I'm not a huge fan of kids. Plus, they cause such a ruchous at the ceremony if they refuse to walk down the aisle!
Flower girls are overrated!!

Re: no flower girl
oh! my college roomate was just a flower girl last year. she'd never been a flower girl or in a wedding at all so when one of her friends got married they asked her to do it.
it was really cute and sweet and no one thought it was wierd. she didnt wear white she just wore a differant dress in the same color as the bm's and she threw the petals on the ground.

I keep teasing FH that we should have my parents dog as the FG....he's not buying it especially since he and most of his family is afraid of dogs

Was just going to second this - you don't need to have a flower girl- honestly I wouldn't have one if it wasn't FH's 5 year old niece..lol. It doesn't have to be a family member, and yes there are folks that would 'rent' out their children for a wedding..very scary thought.

Re: no flower girl
aww - it's okay. if you really want to have a flower girl, you can ask a friend if possible. i've seen weddings here they just had to little boys in seersucker suits & bowties come down the aisle. it was very cute.
