No gifts on Valentines Day

Original post by DayBeforeThanksgiving

Is anyone else out there not exchanging Valentine's Day gifts because they're saving money? FH bought me flowers and took me to dinner last night (he has to work late tonight), but I wish I had a present to open... That sounds so bad!!! Saving money is so tough!

Neither over here...FH has class tonight, and we usually just exchange cards anyway. PS, now I'm sitting here waiting for him to get home so we can enjoy the last hours of the night over frozen dinners. yum!

Re: No gifts on Valentines Day

Last year when we were still planning our wedding, we didn't exchange gifts or go out. We had a romantic home cooked dinner (I think it was me that cooked last year) and we decided that instead of gifts, we would write each other poems. I loved it!!

This year, DH is cooking for me (I'm DYING right now because I'm starving and it smells sooooo good and I'm not allowed anywhere near the kitchen!) and we exchanged very small inexpensive gifts.

I'm very happy with just some flowers and chocolate on V-dayor even just a beautiful card... to me it's more about what you do together that day than what you buy.

We weren't supposed to exchange, but he ended up getting me a day at the SPA (Cactus)!!!

He said he thought I could use it because I've been working so much... I almost cried! Makes me realize why I love this guy!!!

My FH and I really don't exchange gifts other than birthdays just because it is really difficult to shop for eachother. On Valentines he got me flowers (My favorite ) and I cooked dinner for him and we relaxed together. That's about it.

I got the same thing for Burke Williams(a spa here in CA)! I was so excited since we don't usually exchange gifts on V-Day. He knew that I had been under a lot of stress lately too! I was so surprized.

We exchanged cards and went to Thai for dinner.... that's enough... besides I was told my E-ring will be included in many holidays this year That's ok by me... as long as I have a little something to open on my Birthday lol

We put a cap on what to spend on gifts. I bought him a book about football (his first love - - not me - ) and he surpassed it by getting me theatre tickets. I told him to save his money but I am happy anyway.
