No Honeymoon, but long weekend idea?

No Honeymoon, but long weekend idea?

Hi,
My FI and I cannot take a Honeymoon because of my job (we probably couldn't afford it anyway) until the summer, but I was wondering if there was a nice place that we can go for a weekend in LI or CT?

We are getting married Colombus day weekend 07.
We are looking for a place that has a honeymoon suite and maybe some nice things to do in the area. Someone suggested the wine country out East. It would be for Saturday and Sunday night.

I still want a nice weekend even though we can't take a Honeymoon. I don't want to go home!

Any suggestion????????

Thanks

The Weekend you are getting married is the Oktoberfest up at Hunter Mountain. You can take the sky ride up to the top of the Mountain and hike down, there is also a fair there. Great Restaurants in the area also and nice Hotels.

Here is the Website:

Thanks everyone.

The problem is that my reception is over at 12:00 am.

I can't imagine us driving from LI 3 hours to any of these places when we will be 3 sheets to the wind.

I will probably have to stay somewhere Sat night and drive out Sunday. Do locla hotels do nice things for a wedding night?

Thanks for your ideas.

I would defiantly then look into the wineries out East and stay at a B&B. FYI - Most places usually require 2-3 night min stay though.

How about the Catskills, or Woodstock (upstate) that's very pretty that time of year.

Check out Block Island. Everyone I know who has been there has absolutely loved it and you should be able to get a great deal since it is off season

A few places that are nice for a long weekend:
Gurney's in Montauk- or really anywhere in Montauk.
Martha's Vinyard, Nantucket, Newport
or how about a nice place NYC?

Betsy (ewickens) just got back from her long weekend mini-HM in Newport, RI. Send her an FM, they loved it!!

Newport, RI has adorable bed and breakfasts.

You could also stay at a really fancy hotel in Manhattan for the weekend.

We are in the same boat.

We are going to the Poconos for a long weekend after the wedding.

I went to Newport, RI this past weekend from sunday-Tuesday and we stayed in a Holiday Inn Express w/jacuzzi (very affordable), and then toured the mansions and shopped in town. We took the ferry over from Orient Pt and it was so nice out! You'll have an amazing time if you go!

Vermont in the fall is absolutely beautiful...Peak foliage is right around Columbus Day up there...Southern VT is about 4- 4.5 hrs away, depending where on LI you are. There are so many quaint BBs everywhere, and on every ski mountain you will find hotels with great amenities...
