No idea on anything...help - engagement party

Hi Ladies,

So, if I tell you i'm actually clueless on this can you help me out please!!

When do you get engagement photos?
Where can I get cute engagement party invitations?
Any suggestions for an engagment party...locations and food - pricing?
What else should I be doing for the engagement?

most photographers throw in a free engagement shoot when you book them for your wedding. As for invitations, you could get and make your own from places such as Party City or even Michaels, or take a look at some of the invitation/stationary vendors on the vendors page. Our 1st e-party (we're having two as our families live 400 miles apart) was at the future in-law's home, and was a cocktail party- catered with amazing food. Our next one will be at an upstate park this spring, more of a BBQ thing. I suggest do a search for e-parties on these boards. Some people do gorgeous parties at catering halls and reception sites. It depends how formal you want it to be.

After that I would start working on wedding planning.

Made my own invations (album has pictueres), with scrapbooking supplies. They are going to be the colors for the wedding.
We are having the party at a firehouse hall. Having some catered food and a bunch of home made food. We are making small favors of M & M's in personalized tins.
We have not had an 'egagement portrait' done yet, but that should be something that comes with your wedding photographers package. If you want to go the cheaper route, have it taken a a photo place like picture people or walmart.

We're having our e-party in less than a month. We made our own invitations (they are in my album). We got the invitation kit from Michaels and then FH did the layout in Microsoft Word. We're having our party in a Knights of Columbus hall. The price was great, and it includes food, dessert, open bar, cordial bar, etc. We didn't book our photographer yet, so we don't have professional e-shots.
