No kids at your wedding?

No kids at your wedding?

How are you wording this on your RSVP cards? Or how am i saying this to my guest. I spread the word some how... but some people was like ' i'll pay for my child' and i don't think it should be offensive. its not about them paying for their kids .... Friends with kids felt offended.... but its my event and i wanted an adult only wedding.....

There are over 50 kids in my family.. Plus another 20 with friends... love, love them..... and i can imagine a kids party happening in the middle of the dance floor.. Too expensive and kids don't eat the food....

You could write..Adult only reception to follow

I am having the same problem too. I have heard writing 'An adult reception' to follow....

or when you address - you just put the names - and leave out and family. But sometimes that doesn't work either.

I have also heard people filing in the RSVP card automatically with their names and filing in the number 2.

I sent out my Save-The-Dates and addressed them as just Mr and Mrs and then the mom emailed me about being concerned about her daughter's behavior at my wedding. So I politely emailed and told her we were having an adult reception for a few reasons -

1. Night wedding, wont end until 1230 am
2. Guest list was already high
3. Want a nice night out for just parents

She took it very well. Its such a hard thing! I have 4 nieces and 2 nephews under the age of 7, and they are all in the wedding - but they are leaving after cocktail hour. My sisters were thrilled!

Let me know if you come up with any good ideas! I could use them too!

I still can never understand the fact how people 'just don't get it' about the kid thing lol

I just put the names on my inner envelopes of who is invited. Also - as backup - it will be word of mouth that children are not invited..

My envelopes say exactly who is invited. If people fill in the rsvp cards otherwise, I'll call to clarify.

im not having kids at my wedding either , when we send out the invites we are addressing it ' mr & mrs michaels, instead of mr & mrs michales & family im sure they'll get the hint,
ive already had comments from my FH side saying if theres no kids then im not coming ,which i thought was rude but whatever, im not here to please everyone, its my wedding & my day and the people who care & love us will be there , dont sweat it, im sure they will understand! good luck

Re: No kids at your wedding?

I'm allowing kids b/c most of them are my first cousin's children. I think it amounts to 25 total and about 1/2 of them are OOT so I don't know if they will all come.

But, if it was going to be more like 50, I would probably want to make it much more clear that children aren't invited, just so it doesn't have to be an awkward conversation afterwards.

Re: No kids at your wedding?

I'm not having children at my wedding and neither did my sister...

I think its kind of poor etiquette to state 'Adult Only Reception'

I believe the best way is to write on the RSVP cards
number of adults attending

and the names on the envelopes should be sufficient enough

Word of mouth is also great!!

Hope this helps!

Re: No kids at your wedding?

FH and i have been figthing about this for months.. (the reason why my save the dates have NOT been sent out yet )

we both originally said kid free wedding until his mother verbally invited her side that live in CA with kids! some ppl already booked the flight!!

I feel as if this is a blk or white issue... cant have his side and not mine, and mine is like 30 kids + so finally FH spoke with his mother and told her the situation and now no kids... HOWEVER.... we will be providing a babysitter to stay at the hotel for those family members who are still coming but cant leave their kids at home.. i feel like it was the best alternative...

we also had a couple say they wont come without their kids, and at this point, thats fine! i feel like ppl need to respect what we want as well as what we can financially handle!!!

Re: No kids at your wedding?

'ADULTS ONLY' Equates to 'NO KIDS' What is so hard to understand! If these people are willing to pay for their kids to come to your wedding.......than they should be willing to pay for a baby sitter!
If they get offended, they can stay home with their kids on your wedding day. You think these people would welcome the chance to have a bit of a get away alone together without have to have to tend to thier kids!

I agree -- this is probably the way I'm going to go as well...

I don't think I'll ever understand why people take it so personally that their kids are not invited. I would make it very clear on the envelopes...Mr & Mrs, no and family. I have a niece and nephew that are really young that I already told my brother, are not going to the reception. I wouldn't want a kids party in the middle of the dance floor. People should stop getting so offended, don't adults want a night out without their kids???

We are putting Adult Only reception. Wasn't going to but then everyone is asking about it. On the RSVP cards I think I am also putting 2 seats have been reserved for you or 1 seat has been reserved for you. Some people just dont get the hint. FH and I have even said whichever side decides to bring kids it is the responsibility of whomever is related to call and explain its not a kid friendly wedding.

With his family I expect he will be calling many of his relatives.

Re: No kids at your wedding?

the only children invited to our wedding are my nieces & nephew. we addressed the envelopes accordingly. Mr. & Mrs. so & so vs. The So & So Family.

i do not think we will have any problems. if anyone asks me, FH, FMIL, my parents & sister all know that its an adult only reception.
