no liquor at wedding - opinions needed

Original post by 10102009Bride

Ladies honest opinions please…

I’m getting married in NJ. NJ has very strange liquor license rules. My RH can only serve wine… I have to bring my own champagne and beer.
As of right now I did not consider to get a bartender. Since I only drink wine and champagne and FH only drinks beer I was really not concerned.
What do you ladies think… should I get hard liquor?

I definitely think that if you can, have a bartender...it's really nice for you and your guests and you don't really want guests to serve themselves anyway because then it's uncontrolled lol...also have the liquor if you can because not everyone likes wine and beer. The truth is that most ppl kind of 'expect' the liquor and are disappointed if there is only wine and beer at a wedding...I know I would be lolol. The fact that your RH is BYOB is great in a way for you and FH because the RHs that include it are charging you a premium price for it, and by bringing in your own you are saving money by not having to pay that cost to the RH.

in my opinion i would get a bartender and hard liquor. i've been to some weddings in PA where they only have beer and its disappointing. i am not a wine or beer drinker so i prefer the hard liquor. alot of people expect an open bar and dont bring cash or anything like that.

liquor is one of those funny things that people will remember.... they will remember a cash bar as well as no liquor and will prob wonder what the hell you were thinking... this is just my opinion but i think alot of people will tell you this...

that being said, cut back on other things so that you can have open bar for the entire night....

I want to be budget friendly and say skip it but I really do think it's expected. I'm not a big drinker at all but I'd be bummed personally.

If you can afford to hire a bartender and buy hard liquor- DO IT!! Your guests will really appreciate it. There are many people out there who would be dissapointed if you didn't have hard liquor

I agree!

I would get the bartender for the whole night. I wouldn't do cash bar.

It depends on your budget, but I would go for the full bar.

Hey girlie!

I know it's not a budget issue for you, so I say hire a bartender.

I've been to weddings with no alcohol and I didn't like it much. I decided then if i went to another event with no alcohol I would carry those little bottles of liquor with me so I could fully enjoy the night.

The difference with you is that you are having some alcohol. If you cant get a bartender then I wouldnt worry too much about it because you are having alcohol in some shape or form. I don't think it would be that HUGE of a deal. BUT start looking now and I am sure you will find a bartender!

I would say get liquor for the whole night.... that way everyone is happy.. although if it is not in your budget then just stick with what you can do. people will roll with whatever is available
