Brief overview: On the 16-week mark, my water broke. In a nutshelll, we lost our baby boy as a result of fetal complications. I gave birth, and had a D&C (sorry if TMI). This was almost 2 weeks ago... and I'm a little better to talk about it... but now what!?
I would like to jump back on that horse eventually, but don't know how/where to start... what to wait for... what to expect?
I guess what I'm asking is, what should I start doing as of now (before TTC)? We will most likely wait until after AF is regularized to try, but believe that I should be pumping my system with vitamin after vitamin, or following some sort of regimen. I want to prep my body for a healthy baby this time.
Any suggestions?

Im so sorry for your loss
Be strong and be good to yourself during these months, continue taking your prenatal vitamins, drink lots of water, exercise but also try to be in a good mental state also (easier said than done), but allow yourself to grieve and get through this even though its extremely hard.

I'm so sorry you have to go through this
Aside from talking to you OBGYN about it, do some research online about ways to prep your body.

Thanks ladies for showing support.
usuk2004, the docs did say that we had nothing to do with the loss, and that we should wait two AF before TTC. They also said that I should continue to take prenatal vitamins, or at least folic acid vitamins, to prep my body more than before.
Though we had no problem TTC, I think that it turned out badly the 1st time, because we weren't properly prepped with Folic Acid.
What you are saying here is the right course of action!!

I'm so sorry! I know things are hard but if it was nothing you or your DH did than it's just mother nature saying that something was wrong and it wasn't meant to be. Keep yourself healthy and try when you are ready. There's a little angel waiting to become your little or soon!

I had a stillborn 7 years ago, so I KNOW firsthand what your going through. Keep your head up, talk to your Dr's as much as you need to, till you feel like your ok. These things happen and no matter what you take, vitamins, sleep, excersise, it would have happened, so all you can do now, is get better mentally, take your time grieving, because for me it got a ot worse before it got better, and then when you get PG again, think as POSITIVELY as you can, dont think about what happened this time.
I'm sending prayers your way!

First and foremost, take care of your body because it needs some serious TLC. Although you may not plan on getting pregnant soon, accidents happen (I'm a testament to that!), so make sure you get started on your prenatals now!
As for when to start trying again - after my miscarriage, my doctor told me to wait 2-3 months. Well, he told me about 4 days TOO late, because by that time I was already pregnant! I was so scared for my first appointment, I was terrified he was going to tell me my risk of miscarriage was higher because I conceived so soon after, but you know what he told me? Doctors recommend a few months more so to allow the couple to emotionally heal - but, in fact, there is no statistical proof that getting pregnant soon thereafter will increase your chances of miscarriage. What's even stranger is my father told me that when my mother miscarried (28 years ago at 5 months), the Dr. pulled him aside and told my dad to get my mother pregnant ASAP. My dad asked why and the doctor told him it will help her move on and heal. So, the moral of the story is - everything changes from year to year, decade to decade. What's MOST important is that you take your time to greive, and when you feel ready, that's when you should start trying again - whether that's one week from now, or 6 months from now.
