No Maid of Honor?

No Maid of Honor?

Has anyone ever heardof NOT having a Maid of Honor?
Long story short, my older sister is getting a divorce and we don't really get along anyway. All she talks about is how she has no time or money for anything anymore as she's now a single parent of a 1 year old. Through my mom, (no time to talk to me about it) she thinks it's better that I choose someone else! Needless to say, I'm not happy about this.
I have 6 other girls in my party, 2 are my younger sisters (13 and 15) and 4 of them are equally good friends.
Is it too weird to just have a bunch of bridesmaids?

Why not make your other sisters co-maids of honor?

All you really need are two 'witnesses' to sign the certificate. What you call them is up to you

Whatever works for you will be fine...though its traditional to have a MOH, it is not written in stone. Sorry to hear about your sis

I thought about making the 2 younger sisters MOH's but is that too young? By the time of my wedding they'll be 14 and 16.

14 may be a little young, but 16 would be perfect.

I agree with Juliet

i think as long as you and our mother are involved - you could have your younger sisters both as bridesmaids - it is a little young, becaue traditionally they have a lot of responsibility...but you and your mom could help them out and i think they would feel honored and special!

I don't think age matters. The only thing would be that you would have to have someone older sign your marriage certificate. I think having your younger sisters as co MOH's is a great idea.

No maid of honor or having two are all great ideas. Do whatever makes you happy...there is no rule when it comes to a wedding...I think something different always makes a wedding more personal and special anyways!

Re: No Maid of Honor?

I am having a 'Man-of-Honor' which is my brother, so talk about odd. I have a cousin who I am making 'maid-of-honor' along with my brother. I felt she would be too young (15 for my wedding), but I felt that if my brother was with her, it would be okay, so here I am with a man and maid of honor. I think you can really do whatever you want. It is whoever you feel closest with that should matter- mnothing else. I think it would be a GREAT idea for you to have your sisters!
