Ok, I was earlier venting about FH's bestman, but after our weekend trip to Long Island, I am realizing that not one of our friends is happy for us. We have a very artsy, non-traditional group of friends and they are all getting on our case for getting married. Who does that? I mean, all we keep hearing is, 'You're 24, why are you getting married? That's going to ruin everything. No more fun.' I am so mad right now

Re: NO ONE'S HAPPY
I'm sorry that your friends aren't more supportive. Our friends are great, but my FI's family are not so wonderful, specifically his brother and sister! They won't even come to our wedding, and it's not like there's bad blood between them or anything. A lot of his family don't think a wedding is a big deal...meanwhile, my family loves weddings, and feel that it's an event you must attend. I have family all over the country coming, meanwhile, the majority of my FI's family aren't coming.
I've just decided, too bad, they're going to miss one heck of a party!

They sound jealous. Don't worry about them, they will come around. Hey you have us to tell your wedding stuff too!

I agree with the ladies, dont sweat it. As long as both of you are happy the rest doesnt mean a thing.
Enjoy these times

Re: NO ONE'S HAPPY
don't even bother about them ... may be they are not ready for the type of comminment that both of you are facing now, and of course you are showing the signs of changing a style of life ... move on and be happy! Good luck in your planning!

Re: NO ONE'S HAPPY
I have the opposite problem my friends are happy for me but my family isn't. We have had some problems in the past and now my sisters and mother and grandmother are not in the least bit happy for me and even keep saying are you sure this is the right thing to do and stupid s%@# like that . It depresses me, I am about to tell them either be happy for me or f&#@ off. LOL

Re: NO ONE'S HAPPY
Hi there- I can relate. I am one of the first in my close group of friend to get married. Some are happy but my 2 best friends are still single and living at home and cannot relate at all. They say they're happy but it's hard to believe it when they don't act like it.....

Re: NO ONE'S HAPPY
They do sound jealous. Sorry to hear they are 'raining on your parade', on the other hand you can come here and we will applaud your decision. Being madly in love is awesome and finding the person you want to spend the rest of your life with is wonderful. Congratulations!!!!

Re: NO ONE'S HAPPY
What I am noticing nowadays is that there is a lot of jealousy associated with weddings. Particularly women who are single with no prospects and women in their 30's who feel the clock is ticking.
Don't sweat it!!!

Re: NO ONE'S HAPPY
YUP, i have learned in this wedding planning process, that not all my friends are sincere. So sad to find out now, but better now than later. Don't even let it get to you. Just focus on your future w/FH and enjoying your day
