No place like home!

No place like home!

WellI am home from Dallas and I did have major guilts for leaving Mom. She is so uncomfortable and even though she is past surgery, she is FAR from better. She needs a MASSIVE amount of physical therapy and the nurses report she has not been cooperative when they attempt to treat her. My oldest sister is down there now. We crossed paths in the sky I suppose.

Tomorrow I have my hair and make up trials and NEXT week I have my florist do the mock centerpiece (had to change plans). I will take lots of pictures so I can email them to my sister and she can show mom.

I missed FH so much. Im glad to be back but I really want to take care of her.

Awww, welcome back, Leslie!! We missed you, but I'm sure Ed missed you more!!

I know you wish you could be there for your mom 24/7, but there's only so much you can do. Just be rest assured that you know she is in excellent hands, and that your sister is now there with her.

She is so vulnerable. She must be terrified being alone there and so bored too.

Today I asked her if she liked me and she said 'no.' Then I asked her if she LOVED me and she said 'I haven't given it too much thought.' Poor thing is so heavily medicated. Good thing I am trained to know what meds do to people. When I turned my back, she told the ICU nurse that I was her favorite. I'm sure my sister will be her fave tomorrow!

Welcome Home Leslie I know it is definately hard to leave mom especially with the state she is in. She is in good care though & she knows that you have things that need to get done...I am sure she understands

Welcome back Leslie!!!!! We missed you!!! Don't feel guilty about leaving, just think about how guilty your mom would feel if you stayed in Dallas and didn't get these things done. That would be much worse, so just think of it as you're doing this for her. I'm here anytime you need anything!! for your mom's recovery.

At least your sister is visiting with your mom - so she's not totally alone. There's not a whole lot you can do being that she's in a hospital. And from what you've said - this hospital sounds great. She's being well taken care of!

Welcome back sweetie!!

Therapy is tough for older adults. My mom still has trouble with her therapy and she had her stroke almost 6 years ago. Stay strong, and no matter how much you want to help her, she needs to do things for herself. It kills me to see my mom that way (she's paralyzed in her left arm and has partial movement of her left leg) But doctor's told me that she needs to learn to live with her disability. Now she cooks and does certain things on her own. With time and a lot of love, she'll recover!!!
