So my FH and I are not doing so traditional wedding things like garter/bouquet toss, cake cutting (may do cupcakes) among other things. We want to keep things simple.
The issue is we have no young kids to be the ring bearer or flower girl. I have 2 nephews who will be 11 and 9 by the wedding and a niece that will just be 1 at the time. So we were going to not have either, however, my sister is insistent on trying to include my nephews in the wedding. She mentioned having them walk me down the aisle but I don't love that idea. Any thoughts or suggestions?

no ring bearer or flower girl? thoughts.....
I'm not going to have a ring bearer/ flower girl unless my sister in law gets pregnant in the near future- we just dont have any children in the family.....
i don't like the idea too much of your nephews walking you down the isle but if you want them to be a part of it- maybe have them walk down together at some point or escort grandparents or something?

I'm not having children at our wedding at all; it's just not us.
What about putting your nephews in charge of handing out the programs/bubbles/etc?

We are doing the garter/bouquet toss, cake cutting etc. but we are not having a ring bearer or flower girl. No kids are invited to the wedding, and I felt bad asking my twin cousins' parents to buy a dress/tux for the kids to wear for like an hour of the day

I've seen several weddings with out a ring bearer or flower girl. I like the idea of having them pass out the programs or bubbles or whatever you are doing at the ceremony. They will feel important if you give them a special job.

We're likely not having a FG or RB at our wedding..the only children there will be those from OOT. We'll do the garter removal but no toss..I plan to present my bouquet to someone. It's your wedding, do what you feel comfortable doing!

FH and I are doing no kids and we have many options for ring bearers and flower girls, it's just not something we want. If you don't want to do it don't let your sister pressure you into it. I think having then hand out bubbles or programs or maybe have them show guests to their seats are good options if your looking for a way to involve them.

This exactly! I have two young cousins that I wanted to include but didn't want them in the BP. FH and I decided on no flower girl or ring bearer. We are having my two younger cousins hand out programs and bells in the church.

Could the nephews ask ppl if they are on the bride or grooms side and then escort guests down the aisle to a seat? That way they are included.

This!!
Or if you change your mind about having a RB and FG can you have your nephew pull a wagon w/ your niece in it? I dont think they should be walking down the aisle with you.

This! FH keeps trying to convince me to have his cousins in the wedding as the flower girl and ring bearer but we aren't inviting children to the wedding and I feel bad having to send them home after the ceremony! Plus, like you mentioned, tuxes and dresses are NOT cheap.

thanks for the advice ladies.
I was planning on having my brother in law walk me down the aisle (my father passed 15 yrs ago). I wanted to ask him before i mentioned it to my sis. My sister also mentioned the wagon idea but thought that might look weird. I was thinking of having the boys escort the people to their seats.

I don't think children should walk you down the aisle unless it is your child, then thats sweet. Im not having any children at my wedding. Too much work and money for their parents and also, Im not walking down the aisle until 6 pm, they need to be in bed. The best man can keep the rings in his pocket

We have 3 tween in the wedding party - my 2 nieces and FH's daughter - and they'll be junior BMs. Otherwise there will be no kids at the wedding because if you invite one child, you gotta invite them all.

I don't see a problem with it. We Opted to limit kids to immediate family only. With that we have 6 'kids' attending: 4 teenagers above 16 and 2 below. The two youngest are 14 and 9 and they are our bridal party. We just put them as a bridesmaid and groomsmen as we have been babysitting them on and off since they were little. No one is going to know their title while walking down the aisle.

I have my 2 nieces as my flower girls but my nephew and FH's nephew are both going to be 10 at the time of the wedding which we think is too old for a ring bearer. We are just having them part of the wedding party as 'junior groomsmen' and will walk down the aisle with the junior bridemsaids who are around that age also. We are not having kids at the wedding except the ones in our bridal party.

That is a cute idea, only issue is I don't have any junior bridesmaids. I was thinking of having them be ushers for the guest to their seats.

I only have my niece as my flower girl, and I would prefer not to have kids at our wedding, but I have some OOT family that might not have a choice but to bring their kids with them. I do think its a nice gesture to add your nephews, but it's up to you..I was stuck in the same predicament with my little cousin. So what i'm going to do is have him walk my mom down the aisle

We also did not want kids at our wedding, but FH has 2 oot cousins with 1 young kid each so they will need to bring them. My nephews and I are close and my sis just had a baby girl who will be 1 by the wedding. I have a very small family, both of my parents & grandparents are deceased. I want to include my nephews but can't think of a none cheesy way.
