so i will admit that this post prob makes me come across as spoiled, but i have to ask.... did you get a lot of checks/gifts with your no rsvps? we only received like 3 checks which surprised me.
also would you be annoyed if you recently went to a wedding and gave $300 and received a 'no' with a $50 check? i was a little bummed when i got their check... or are FH and I just giving too small of a gift?? we thought $300 was a reasonable amount for a friday wedding....

hmmm, usually when i send a 'no' response i don't send a gift until the week of the wedding and i usually send something off the registry
and for the other thing, i think i'd be a little bummed, but they prob felt like they didn't HAVE to give you back what u gave them because they weren't coming -people are strange

Re: no rsvps and gifts...
we only got 8 'real' no's meaning many people rsvped yes and didn't bring a date
of those 8 couples, we received three gifts (2 off our registry and one vera frame), and one check from my cousin. so nothing from 4
I don't expect a gift with a no rsvp...however, the $50 check from someone i gave 300 to would bother me. she doesn't have to give me 300 per se since she won't be taking a plate but man...at least a 100?!

This. Maybe some people will do the same!
We got a ton of no responses - a lot more than we expected (almost 100 people), and only 3 of them sent us gifts also.

Re: no rsvps and gifts...
We've gotten 2 checks from 'no's'...but AFTER the actual wedding. We only got one gift from a 'no' prior. It also wasn't a check.

Re: no rsvps and gifts...
I could seriously care less wether people send a gift with their RSVP... at this point i am so annoyed with all that haven't responded.. a timely RSVP would gift enough for me!! We got a couple of checks, but I really wasn't expecting any unless we are VERY close to the ones who declined.

ugh i feel you with that...i hope by now you got all of the responses! we were pretty lucky though....only 15 people that didnt respond and we made calls and got answers immediately. the biggest headache i had was when FMIL called her friend to see about their rsvp and they said they didnt think they could come bc their parents were in town...so FMIL called FH and said she needs to invite two more people. thankfully, FH set FMIL straight...they are no longer speaking

Re: no rsvps and gifts...
1. $300 for a gift is definitely a good gift!!! thats the same magic number me and FH usually give unless its immediate family we will bump it up to $500
2. i second Lisa people are strange. it would be nice is everyone followed the idea of 'give to others the same as they gave to you' but not everyone does for whatever reason
3. you never know you may get cards with gifts the week of the wedding or right after. i still keep meaning to send a gift to a couple that got married on the 2nd whose wedding we missed. and the reason i didnt send it with the rsvp is i keep forgetting to go to CVS and buy a card im gonna send it this weekend so that its there for them when they get home from the honeymoon.

Re: no rsvps and gifts...
Well I haven't received any 'no' rsvps yet, but for our e-party a couple of fh's couple friends gave us a $50 check, which would be ok IF we didn't give them $200 at their e-parties.
It made me so mad, I don't understand how you can accept a generous gift and not reciprocate in return. I could never do that

Re: no rsvps and gifts...
So far the only NOs I have gotten were from out of town family members (aunts/uncles) that I knew probably wouldn't come. I am a little surprised that I didn't get a gift/chec since they are family, but maybe they will send something closer to the wedding??

They paid for you to go to their wedding so a $300 gift is good. Since they responded no you don't have to pay for them to go to your wedding so the gift doesn't cost you a thing!!.
I would say it would definately be messed up if they responded yes and then decided not to show up and give $50 or nothing.

Lol we are going through the same thing. I got 4 no's and only one check. The check was for 50 bucks and for their wedding we too gave 300. I know what you are going through!

Re: no rsvps and gifts...
i think we got about 4 or 5 checks with the no rsvp's. we also got about 5 or more since after the wedding and they were quite generous for ppl that didn't go to the wedding. maybe wait and see til afterwards.
and for the 2nd thing, we were on the same boat. we rec'd a ck from somebody whose wedding we went to and they gave us 1/2 of what we gave but i guess it's b/c they didnt' come to the wedding. but it was a nice gesture. they didn't have to i guess
