no to altering a david's gown??
After reading some recommendations, I was going to go with Phyllis Limmer for alterations of my David's Bridal gown. Then she said, 'sorry, we don't do David's Bridal gowns anymore.' Huh? Any ideas why?

oh no! She altered a David's BM dress for me in 07 and did a great job. She also altered my wedding gown (that I didn't buy from her store either) and I was so happy with her work. I'm actually going to be a BM again this year and I was planning on bringing my gown to her again. But since its from david's bridal I guess she might turn me down. How disappointing! Do you know if it's just David's bridal dresses that she says no to or dresses from any other store? Maybe she just wants to focus on altering the dresses she sells from her store?
I never did find out why but I bought my bridal gown from her and I was recently in a BP and needed alterations and asked her to do them for me. She said yes but she also asked if it was from Davids Bridal- which it wasn't., I do believe she would have turned me down though if it was. I will try to find out on Thursday. I have my 2nd fitting then
I bought a 2nd dress for our anniversary pics from davids. I needed to shorten it just a touch and also wanted to remove the train, wanted it to look like an evening gown and not so bridal bc of what our pics were for. Anyhow, the lady who did alterations there told me they can not do anything to alter the look of the dress, they can shorten for example it but can't do any other type of alterations and that is the store policy. I'm totally guessing but MAYBE other shops are staying away from altering david's dresses too due to this policy. were the alterations youre talking about be considered altering the look of the dress of was it just taking it up or in?
She hung up before I got the chance to ask why. I'm just really disappointed. I called (no joke) three seamstresses today - 2 did not even answer nor have machines. My wedding is coming up. I just need a hem and bustle and I need someone good who will not grossly overcharge just because it is a wedding gown...
