Anyone have suggestions for a DJ who keeps the cheese to a minimum? No handouts, no light shows, no attention stealing MCs! FH and I would keep the DJ behind a curtain if we could. I know how that sounds, but we are so afraid of this getting 'Sweet Sixteeny'.
Has anyone been to a wedding on LI with a low-key DJ?

Musical Image Entertainment. My best friend used them for their wedding. Not only were all 250 dancing, we didn't even know the DJ was there! She paid next to nothing

We chose Bravura for those exact reasons. We picked Paul to be our MC. He is calm, well spoken and mellow.

saw pierre lissade (djs unlimited) a few years ago at my friends wedding. could've sworn he was just a 1 man dj. turns out he's an mc only - didnt even notice a dj behind him. danced my butt off all night - and he wasnt obnoxious or haggling people on the dance floor. said he can read a room within 20 mins and determin what to play. he was phenomenal. we booked him for our wedding and i cant praise him enough.

Tommy's Tunes!! We wanted nothing to do with cheese or with an annoying MC pulling people out on the dance floor and telling everyone to clap all night long. They put together a package for us that was perfect for what we were looking for. They were one of the only companies that we met with that I felt actually listened to what we wanted instead of trying to sell us on things we didn't want. (Bravura was the worst when it came to this, in my opinion!) I would highly recommend them. Ask to speak to Steven when you call - he was the best!
LI Sound. No cheese there that's for sure. I am using them, a lot of my friends have used them.

It def depends on the package you select. We are doing a one man show. Not a fan of annoying MC's. People will dance if you have good music & a great DJ. All those extras are fluff. It all comes down to preference. We are still on the hunt for our DJ but we are hopefully getting closer. Good luck.

After Hours! Phil is great because he can be loud and energetic or he can just be subtle and play great music. His personality can't be beat either! We went with the big lights but he has smaller packages too.

ITA!! You cannot get any classier than Bravura! I'm so excited to have them at our wedding b/c they are the example of what cheesy is NOT!
